First Extract, Crash Precip using canned air duster propellant.

So SWIM just finished 3 pulls on his first extract. STB using whatcha's tek.
Skipped the dry after the polar wash, SWIM mistakenly thought he had Epsom salts which he did not.
He decided to test out crash preciping some crystals using canned air propellant.

After about 30 minutes of his precip dish sitting in the freezer, he dipped in a shotglass and pulled up naptha and covered it with aluminum foil.
He then left the shot glass in the freezer while he completed another pull.
When he came back, he removed the shotglass, and tightly wound some wire around the glass to hold the foil on top of it.

He then took out the shotglass and placed it on the sidewalk. He turned a can of air duster upside down and sprayed it constantly on the shot glass, rotating the glass as he sprayed. This stuff is cold, SWIM suggests gloves.
After 1-2 minutes of this, he poured the remaining naphtha back into his main precip container.
He held the shot glass in front of a fan for several minutes to allow it to dry. When it looked dry, SWIM scraped the edges of the shot glass with a razor. Boom, doses ready for smoking. Crystals ready for smoke less than 7 hours after he STARTED extracting. Not bad.

The rest will be allowed to properly crystallize, then he will re-x them.

Haha, that sounds rather enjoyable to actually be able to watch it crash out like that..

However, if in not that much of a hurry next time, why not try a salt/ice/water bath? It gets and stays pretty cold (how cold you ask? I havent the slightest, but Im sure the internet would know) and it seems much friendlier on the environment..and should encourage your goodies to crash out much faster than simply sticking it in the freezer

After reading it on here I sometimes do it after ~24hrs in the freezer... While its probably highly unnecessary at that point I still like to try to get every last drop haha...

Considering most folks have freezers and almost always have them running already, it seems less environmentally friendly using a disposable compressed gas can. Which has had much energy put into its creation, shipping and packaging. Not to mention the waste.
Sorry but couldn't help myself.

Dry ice and acetone gets pretty cold too, but considering the whole: freezer sat right in the kitchen which is already cold enough and doesn't require any extra cost...

SWIM agrees that this is not the most sustainable method. The canned air used was no longer good for dusting purposes (too weak) but still contained lots of cold propellant. This can would have gone to the trash anyway, so SWIM didn't feel so bad trying this out.
In the future, SWIM won't be in such a hurry because SWIM will always be sure to keep some spice on hand, but he did want to experiment and this was chosen as a proof of concept.
