first extraction help please, with picture :)

ok so i just wanted to touch base with the great minds in the nexus concerning my first ext. and see what you guys think, if im doing ok and whatnot.

i decided to go with a modified lazy mans tek, i say modified because i used a simple wash with h20 before evaping.

amounts of everything
250gr mimosa
1500 ml tap water
100gr NAOH
125ml naptha

-broke down mimosa into smaller peices, not quite shredded, not whole tho

-mixed water/NAOH stirred, added mimosa, sirred/let sit for 1hr

- added naptha, stirred for another 1hr (soultion still very warm due to NAOH/water reaction)

-removed naptha, washed with approx 75ml water. QUESTION: the water seemed to pull alot of yellowish stuff out of the naptha.. for the second pull i did not used water beacuse i wanted to see if it would still evap clean, and it did.. slightly confused by this..

-evaped naptha YEAILD: approx 300mg white/yellow residue slightly hard, not quite crystals

SECOND pull: YEAILD: approx 800mg

NOTE: a fan/hairdryer was used to speed evap, did not want to wait with that horrible smell in the house.. im sure it affected crystalization

does that look ok? thats the second pull, i vaped a little off a foil and it is active.. didnt get much though

maybe try to recrystalise your spice to get a cleaner product. i had some very yellow waxy DMT, i recrystalised it and now i have beautifull clear crystals.

do a freeze percip instead of evaporating your naphtha, if you are worried about the fumes. you can also re use your solvent afterwards.

I always use di water, and I also make sure the lye is completely dissolved and the water has cooled a little before i put the mhrb in. I'm not sure if that makes a big difference or not.

thanks guys! il try freeze precip on my next pull, its been sitting 24h so should be a good one.

what re-x tek should i go with? i was just going to re dissolve with naptha, quick wash with h20. is that sufficient?

i just had an idea, before freeze precip, what if you added a little bit of water.

the water should take the contaminets to the bottom, there it would freeze, leaving the natha an dmt on top, eliminating the need for a re-x process after??

does that sound good?

im about to freeze precip, hope i get an answer in the next hour

No no no, then you can separate out the DMT without having water thaw in it!

Edit: with the spice that you evaporated the naphtha from, you may want to re-x it with IPA or ethanol, just in case any solvent has caught in the crystals.
