first extraction questions, nps and dmt not separating? pictures

Pretty new to dmt, have some questions about extracting if I can ask here
I'm not really sure what I did wrong, but I think something I did beforehand messed up my freezing step,
I tried using 50g mhrb in a tek on here that said gave .8g over 3 pulls, but I wasn't really able to get any crystals to form.

The first picture is my mhrb, vinegar, salt saline solution (a part of recipe or something), lye, and naptha on top
i got maybe a little under .05 g after letting that first pull sit in the fridge for around 15hrs, just enough for a hit but not enough
to mix into a cart, not enough to take a picture

The second picture is a third pull I tried using around 100-150g of naphtha (3x what I did the first time also in grams, I'm honestly not sure
whether grams of nps or mL made a difference, but in some of the tutorials I've seen its been weighed in grams? not sure)
It was clear at first, and I put it in the fridge in a smaller glass tupperware container, nps covered the bottom about a fifth of the way up.
After 16 hours, naptha was light yellow and there were really tiny little specks of fog that looked a little whiter than the dish's condensation,
but the more it thawed out after I stood it up my naphtha left white trails down the glass, and the more it dried it pretty much disappeared
entirely. I should've taken a picture but by the time I moved the naphtha around taking the glass out of the freezer, it looked like there
wasn't anything anyway.

I think something went wrong with my freeze precipitation, second picture yellowed out after storing at room temp in closet (i dont know if
it should be cold sorry lol) but maybe I tried to do too much with my extraction. I was thinking I could try to leave nps in freezer for longer,
get rid of some ingredients, or start from scratch? not super sure what I should try, am I missing something?

I recommend to use a thinner jar so you can get your solvent out easier when you are extracting 50g of bark.

Maybe also try to heat the soup with a hot water bath.
Make sure that the soup does not get too hot. About 60°C for the water bath should be fine.
When the soup is heated then the solvent will get hot as well.
Hot solvent can grab more dmt and more crashes out when freezing.

When all of that did not work and you followed the tek exactly then the problem could be a non potent bark maybe.
You could verify this by trying another tek.

This, although the naphtha could be at fault - do you have any technical data for it, like a SDS, @zhriszmith? If your naphtha has an appreciable content of aromatics freeze precipitation does not work, so having more details about the solvent you've used would also help with troubleshooting.

100 - 150g of naphtha for 50g of bark is quite a lot though, so
You could try to let the nps pulls evap to 50% and then freeze it.
is a good suggestion. An alternative, which avoids the evaporation of so much naphtha, would be to wash the naphtha with dilute white vinegar to bring any DMT back into the aqueous phase. After separating off this solution (containing DMT acetate), cautiously adding a solution of lye to it will produce an almost immediate clouding if DMT is present. You may be able to recover this freebase directly from the water, or you may prefer to extract it into a smaller volume of naphtha and repeat the freeze precipitation if you want some nice crystals to marvel at 🤩 . [This process is, of course, what is known as a mini A/B]

There are other ways to proceed at any given point, like simply evaporating the vinegar to recovery solid, waxy DMT acetate if you want to confirm the presence of something - probably DMT - in your extract. This way your only cost would be a little vinegar if you turned out to have recovered nothing at all.

And remember, the Golden Rule of extracting - don't throw anything away until you're certain you got the goods (or that they were never there in the first place, I suppose).
