Rising Star
This 0.25g of purified mescaline was more similar to what I expected. As far as intensity, I would compare it to say 2.5 grams of dried mushrooms.
I noted that the come-up was much less intense than with psilocybin. There was no major feeling of "something about to happen" - instead between about 1 and 2 hours into the experience my perceptions just gradually changed. Initially, I felt slightly stimulated. However, this wore off towards the middle of the trip and I actually felt a bit sedated after that. I noticed that I was much more able to think clearly with mescaline than with psilocybin. I could probably have worked math problems with the mescaline - whereas with psilocybin I would have a hard time just trying to find videos I wanted to watch that were stored on my computer. I had just slight visuals if I stared at textured surfaces (I normally don't get too intense of visuals with psilocybin either). The biggest effect I noticed was feeling very "dreamy". I would close my eyes and day dream and the experience would feel very real. I would get lost in my daydreams kind of like one does in a TV show or good book - then open my eyes and be instantly back to the "real world". Another thing I noticed was that I would start a particular thought, then get distracted by some other thought. This would happen several times. It seemed like I could then pick the other streams of thought back up later, and they would be further along even though I had been thinking about something else. While thoughts were clearer than with psilocybin I did still miss the "body high" that I normally experience with mushrooms.
About 7 hours after ingestion I noticed the effects starting to wane. I was feeling a bit sedated by this time so I took a nap and had a few more vivid daydreams. After that, I felt like getting everything back "in order". Getting dressed again, putting away the recordings I had pulled out one by one without bothering to re-file them earlier, etc. By 9 hours almost all effects except for a bit of lingering sedation are gone.
