Hello,
What a wonderful place. SWIM is a 41 year old female who used Noman's "DMT for the Masses" tek to extract about a gram of very white, fluffy crystals. SWIM has studied chemistry, but it was over 20 years ago and she has forgotten more than she knew. She wound up taking her degree in Psychology. She has loved science fiction for her entire life. She has been a bizarre "left-wing Libertarian" who has lived for the weird, fantastic and unusual. She has a list of life experiences that is large and diverse. She first tried cannabis as a teenager, then LSD, mushrooms, Ecstacy and Peyote. At that time she felt these sacred substances were fun to "party with." She met her husband at age 20 in 1988 and they are still happily married. In the early days they used to go out to public places and take truly massive doses (called "wang-doosies") of acid that SWIM's husband procurred from a special network of old heads who liked heavy doses. Unfortunately, things culminated in a really bad acid trip for SWIM that could be described as a classic "ego-death" experience. Unfortunately, being a product of her culture and an atheist to boot, SWIM wasn't able to process/integrate this experience and quit all psychedelics for 20 years!!! Sadly, SWIM moved on to various pills, mostly of a downer nature such as antidepressants, pain pills, muscle relaxants, etc.
SWIM started to hear "the call" of psychedelics when she was 40. She manifested various weird symptoms of what she called a "mid-life crisis" at this point. Without going into endless details, including doing some deep and wonderfully healing work on the ego-death experience, SWIM moved forward with what she called her herbal and chemistry experiments. She smoked, liked (and still does) Salvia Divinorum, she tried creating a preparation from Adanathera Columbria seeds with no effect other than poisoning. She consumed Aminata Muscaria mushrooms and had a vaguely Alice in Wonderland experience. She extracted and vaporized hash oil. She grew Psilocybe Cubenis mushrooms and tried a series of weekly experiments titrating up (0.75 grams, 1.5 grams, 3 grams, 5 grams, then finally 7 grams). She was frustrated that she could not get truly "psychedelicized," other than with Salvia, which induced full-blown 3-D visions. Actually, the 7 gram mushroom trip did it in a rather profound way that SWIM is still integrating.
SWIM had heard about the spice 20 years ago from her husband (SWIM is also a huge fan of the Dune science fiction series). SWIM is priveleged to actually KNOW Gracie & Zarkov.
About 6 months ago, SWIM began reasearching everything she could find on DMT. She asked Gracie & Zarkov questions. She read Strassman's book, she read (& listened to podcasts of) T. McKenna the Shulgins and D.M. Turner, she read every single issue of The Entheogen Review. She started reading Charles Tart and meditating and trying to "wake up" just a little bit more. She had met and interacted with entities in Salvia space and now considered herself an agnostic rather than an atheist. She scoured Erowid and Lycaeum.org. She quickly learned just how much the Yahoo groups sucked on these and other related topics. She finally heard about and began lurking at DMT-Nexus. She finally felt she might be ready to smoke some DMT. SWIM sure as hell was not going to procure this particular sacrament on the street. It is a neurotransmitter. It is in our pineals and CSF. It is in plants and animals. She had seen various teks for plant extractions . . .
She began the physical process about 15 weeks ago by going cold turkey on the pain pills. After that, she went cold turkey on the SSRI antidpressants and muscle relaxants. She got to the point where the only medicines or drugs she was using included Cannabis, sugar and caffeine. She got to the point where there were no cravings (physical or psychological), her dream life came back as well as her sexuality.
It took her three attempts (three different teks) to get a product that looked acceptable to her middle-aged, somewhat substance-conservative eyes/mind. Even though the first two teks took about 24 hours (off and on), SWIM still did not hesitate to throw the ugly final product out and try again (usually after more research and meditation and a week's time). Third time was a charm! SWIM's husband (who had smoked synthetic spice in the 1960's) commented "It's so white!" and suggested he might be interested (Although very tolerant and supportive, SWIM's husband has not been travelling with her this time around.). . . SWIM, who has been working on humbleness, had a burst of pride!
SWIM is conservative when she tries a new herb or chemical. Although SWIM desired (and still does) a breakthrough experience, she started with a very low dose (approx. 10 mg) "dusted" onto some ground Cannabis. She smoked her bowl and felt a slight body-load with no apparent psychological effects. She thought to herself that "this stuff is a bit tweaky," and for some reason known only to the tryptamine landscape, SWIM could not stop laughing for close to 10 minutes! "Okay. . .," SWIM thought to herself.
This time she dusted her bowl with more like 20 mg than 10 (SWIM does have a nice mg scale, but there is always a tiny bit left begind and the scale is something like +/- 1 mg). Holy crap! After her vision went kind of "underwater" like she fell into a trance (This is a very easy thing for SWIM to do.). Once during the experience, she briefly opened her eyes and felt a kind of vertigo, a kind of tremendous pulling at her center. She interpreted this as nausea, groaned, closed her eyes and decided to give it a few more minutes.
The experience itself was fantastically visual and completely clear - no subjective feeling of intoxication other than delight. SWIM has NEVER seen multi-colored patterns that are so intricate and frenetic, as well as constantly moving/changing/transforming. They were fractal, kind of like the Mandlebrot Set, but with sharper angles. Infinite depth and detail. This was true with eyes open or closed. This tryptamine landscape felt so very welcoming. SWIM felt like she belonged there, was being welcomed, that a part of her had always been there.
SWIM started to come down. Coming down from a light spice trip is extremely pleasant (SWIM hates coming down from acid or mushrooms), much more so than Salvia. Coming down from a spice trip is somewhat like peaking on about 700 to 1000 micrograms of LSD. SWIM has never had such amazing open-eyed visuals.
SWIM has never had a still-picture come to life before. This happened while coming down. It was a stick-figure of a cat drawn by SWIM's five-year old nephew. It's stick legs appeared to be running, like it was on a treadmill, it's face smiled playfully and it's head rotated back and forth. SWIM immediately flashed on the fact that this drawing had a bit of the essence/soul/spirit of her nephew. It embodied his energy and playfulness. SWIM will NEVER look upon that drawing or ANY piece of artwork the same way again!
SWIM feels that Salvia is a kind of dimensional collapse into the realms of the unconscious mind. But with the spice, though SWIM's explorations are just beginning and SWIM understands that anything can happen when plumbing the depths of the inner mind and outer Universe, there is humor, love and beauty built into this molecule! SWIM is delighted and intrigued and after taking some more time off for integration/processing, SWIM greatly looks forward to further spice explorations.
As an aside, SWIM recently attempted to pull some Jungle Spice from her basified marc using Xylene, and wound up with a yellow oil. SWIM is not quite sure what to do with it . . .
If you have read this far, I bow to your patience. SWIM loves to write and has difficulty keeping it concise. Thank you Traveler and everyone else. I hope to someday become a full member. I do not own a computer, so my internet access is spotty, but I'll come here everytime I am online.
