First Time tech

After a lot searching this and other forums and going througha lot of techs ive finally put together the process i will use for my first extraction, i was hoping you good people could give me your thoughts and opinions if this will work/any improvements.
Here is the materials i will be using
-MHRB (it came labelled as acacia tunuflora but im fairly sure that was to avoid any unnecessary problems with customs)
-sodium hydroxide(ordered from a chemical supplier)
-Sodium carbonate (from the same supplier)
-ronsonol lighter fluid

1. mix 100g of NaOH to 1.5l of water in a 3l glass jar (i have seen some debate as to wether glass is appropriate although from what i can gather so long as i add slowly the heat shouldnt make it crack)
Add MHRB and mix thouroughly. leave for 24 hours, stirring periodically

2. add 100ml of lighter fluid, roll the glass to mix the two but do not shake to avoid emulsion. leave until seperated and repeat 3 or 4 times. remove top layer with a syringe being careful not to get any NaOH

3. repeat step 2 3 times so i will have a total of 300ml of lighter fluid in a seperate jar

4. add a pinch of sodium carbonate to 50ml of water (must this be distilled?) shake and seperate

5. repeat this with just (again distilled?) water

6. allow lighter fluid to evaporate to 20% of origional volume

Ideally here i would -

7. put in freezer for 24hours to precipitate, pour off through a coffee filter, rinse and allow to dry, keeping the fluid and repeating the process.

however my freezer is a crappy compartment freezer and i dont know if it will be cold enough, will it be alright to allow step 6 to just evaporate completely? ive tested the lighter fluid by itself and it left no discernable residue, i have seen some techs advising re disolving in lighter fluid at this stage but how can this help and is it neccessary?

Sounds good. Step 4/5 is optional, it would be best to skip that if it's your first extraction.

You can evap the naptha, but you'll get plant oils. You could recrystallize, which is what you're talking about, to clean it up some. You don't evap completely, but enough to get most of the crystals out.

thanks damon, think ill try freezing since it seems by far the best way but i wont be holding my breath. perhaps ill evap it down to the last few mil first

I did an extraction today using Lye and Rosonol/Swan lighter fluid with the tech you described above, minus the sodium bicarbonate wash and without freeze precip (just let the lighter fluid evapourate completely).
I actually run hot water over my naptha before I mix it into the root bark soup as it tends to give a better yield per pull.
Either way I was pleased with the result from roughly 50g mhrb (have another 450g ready to roll!)- looks like just under half a gram from 2 pulls (I tend to do the third separately so the fattiest stuff can be kept seperately).

This is the first extraction I've done since my first ever that evapped to reveal white crystals- I think leaving the base solution to sit for too long has given me fattier pulls in the past, whereas this one I pulled after 50 minutes and with the heated naptha gave me a wealth of quite pure looking stuff! Feels like I'm getting better at this, jsut hope its not a fluke.

nice one mate, so just letting the base sit around for an hour rather than a day gives a purer product without loss of yield? im glad of that like im not the most patient of people

Yep an hour is quite enough! After that I start pulling more fats etc, but still not an inhibitive amount until the 3rd/4th pull. I've not yet tried doing a whole set of pulls before the hour mark but I'll definitely be doing this soon.
Letting the base break down the bark for longer might be more useful with shredded bark (to compensate for the decreased surface area) but if you start pulling at the hour mark, by the 4th pull or so it'll have probably sat enough to degrade the plant matter anyway.

Reeto cheers people, ironically enough finding suitable jars etc is proving harder to find than any of the chemicals but i hope to have it sorted by the weekend ill post how it goes.

Just buy things from the supermarket already filled up. It will only be a couple of quid, throw away anything you don't want. Aldi will have large bulk containers.
