Hello the Nexus! I'm very happy to be here. I'm working on my introduction post and the questionnaire but I just wanted to start a thread for some of the questions I may have and to have my first go critiqued.
I carried this post over from shroomery so I didn't have to retype the same info.

Hey all! I'm very excited to say I've pulled DMT all by myself for the first time using a very similar tek to what I helped with before, and I was wondering if yall can tell me how it looks?

I used Cybs Hybrid ATB Salt Tek

My only worry is I think I may of gotten a TINY bit of the base solution (and I do mean a tiny bit) in the naptha during the pull and I'm not completely satisfied with some of the colors I'm seeing in there so I plan on recrystalizing with warm naptha like described in the tek. However, the smell is PERFECT. It smells EXACTLY like every kind of DMT I've ever smoked and this excited the shit out of me.

I have absoutlely no history in chemistry and am really just starting my research but lmk if you have tips or if I have some fucked up stuff here lol. I've got my 2nd pull in the freezer now and fresh naptha for the 3rd pull sitting in their water bath atm.

Thank you a ton! I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of myself for getting this to work first time around, but I couldnt of done it without the wonderful write up and FAQ section on this site, so I'm very thankful to yall and The Nexus.

I've gotten roughly 500mgs from the first two pulls from 50gs of bark, from what i can tell this is pretty average, can I expect to get a total of a gram after the next few pulls or is most of it taken out in the first couple gos?

Just so I know for future sake does a tiny bit of basic soup contamination make the product unsafe? Or just more harsh? Not that I plan to be careless, I'm just curious exactly how meticulous I need to be. I dont want to hurt myself or anyone else.

EDIT: also I'm curious if it's okay that I'm leaving the base solution and naptha together overnight. I only have 2 glass trays to use for freezing so in between pulls it's just been sitting like this. Is that ok? Every few hours I've been warming the water back up, is that also ok? From what I've read using the search function it seems fine but I just wanna double check. I'm honestly pretty ignorant of chemistry and am not sure what unseen forces are at work here

Depending on the quality of your bark, and if you perform your pulls with hot solvent from a hot soup, you may get 1.5 to 2% yield.

I tend to play it safe; if I feel there is one drop on basic solution in my pulls I re-x. The soup is highly caustic, so I can imagine a small amount still doing some potential damage to the lungs and throat. Granted, I tend to be paranoid.

And leaving them together in the soup overnight should be fine :)

The tek I've been using has it alternate between medium warm and room temp in the water bath, does it matter if I pull the nap when its warm or room temp?

Appreciate all the help!

Hey all, important question as I've worried myself a bit here. I thought that the Turkey baster shown in the tek I used was plastic so I didnt think about it, I've been using a plastic turkey baster to separate the layers, I've been reading he FAQ throughout the day and noticed it says to avoid plastics. Will the few seconds the naptha was in the baster be enough to pull out any nasty chemicals?

Good thing I made sure to do a small amount this round.
I think with what I've read I feel confident enough that a re-x and ordering some glass pipettes and a glass baster (theyll be here sunday lol) for the next pulls will do. I might expose myself to a touch of plastic, which I wont repeat, but I think it won't compare to the amount I eat in my food.

Next question, will letting my soup and naptha chill til sunday (2 days) be ok? Should I keep stirring and reheating their water bath or just let them chill?

Your spice does look tasty, congrats!

To avoid soup droplets, i like to pipette the solvent into a glass vessel, let it sit there for a few minutes, then pour it carefully into the evaporation dish. Soup droplets will sink to the bottom of the first vessel and stick there.

The soup droplets are usually really dark though, to me your pics look like you don't have any.

Thank you a ton! I'm very happy with the result. As soon as I got a wiff of that distinct spice auroma I was literally euphoric. It's the most excited I've been in a long time. Usually when I'm getting into something new, after I do it once I get a grasp pretty quickly. This hobby will be a bit more complex to start than my mushies but I thoroughly enjoy doing chemistry, even if I'm not sure exactly why what's happening is happening yet.

I just ordered a pyrex pipette and glass stirrer so I'm gonna wait to do the rest of my pulls til I have it.

Hey all so I've run into a bit of an issue. Even after 20hrs in the freezer on my 3rd pull some of the spice isnt sticking to the glass and is instead floating around in the nap. Some Crystal's and some oil are just splashing around in the nap, what can I do to fix this?
Is it possible what I'm looking at isnt spice? It looks exactly the same as what I've been scrapping just not stuck to the glass.

Allow more of the solvent to evaporate and then pop it back in the freezer. I always have a little floating around after freeze precipitation. I tend to allow it to accumulate in my pour off jar of used solvent until there's a decent amount and then will retrieve it.

Righteous thank you. I appreciate the mild hand holding my friend. I tend to get a but anxious when learning a new skill, especially one as potentially complex as this seems it could be, for someone without basic chemistry skills anyway lol.

3rd pull, still lookin good? Theres some mpre darker oily stuff this time but it still smells great

Hey all!
So I've just done my 4th pull and I got even more than my 3rd. I'm up to nearly 1.5gs pulled out of 50gs of bark and it just seems to keep coming. Do I have just have good quality bark or am I pulling something other than dmt?
