gassing alkaloid saturated naptha with hcl gas?

what do you think about gassing naptha(from a mhrb extract) with hcl gas (both anhydrous obviously)?
I know that dmt hcl is not a crystaline solid....but either way the hcl bond with the alkaloids should ionize a solid?
then which you could filter----->collect with bassified h20 and recollect with NP solvent, to a freeze precip.

I remember years ago people would re a/b a a/b or stb extract by salting out the naptha with a diluted hcl aqueous solution in order to get a cleaner product. In my experience when ever salting out with a acidic aqueous solution the results were not all that good, I believe that the h20 allows either fats/oils/tannins/lipids ect to carry over as well.
this is why I am wondering if you were to gas...you could precipitate just alkaloid and none of the junk?
 
If DMT HCl is not a solid your just going to wind up with an oily mess thats hard to seperate from whatever solution one gases. Gassing is a very effective way of precipitating alkaloids but if the salt is not a useful form why go through the risk of generating toxic fumes for no reason?

Oh also yes sometimes alkaloids can be precipitated and only that alkaloids comes out. It depends if there is any other compound in solution that could form HCl salts. If so then it won't be pure.
 
I beleve it will form a solid, just not crystaline...more gooey like you said. you wouldnt have to filter, if it formed a solid wouldnt it sink to the bottom? If so you could decant or pipet off the NP then collect with basified h20.
My swim feels very comfortable gassing hcl as he has done it numerous times to precipitate mescaline hcl, thus he knows the risk hazards.

just a theory thats been itching my head lately....thanks for your opinion:d
