... while on her period. After watching the Drugs Inc. documentary on hallucinogens (particularly the part on ayahuasca) she finally decided to give it a go. Prior to this her only experience with hallucinogens was a very mild shroom trip about 10 years ago.
I wasn't certain this was a good idea, but loaded up a very small amount of changa and talked her through how to relax, what to expect etc. I queued up some relaxing music and let her settle for a while before she took a little hit and lay down. She coughed up the smoke almost immediately but I knew there'd be some effect. After about 1 minute she started giggling, then asked for some tissues and had a little cry. For the next 2 minutes she alternated between laughing and crying, all while laying back with her eyes closed, but squirming a little and turning over from time to time.
Afterward she described some very mild body buzz, but no visuals. Interesting she said it touched her very deeply on an emotional level, hence the giggles and tears. Understandably she had trouble letting go, and everytime she felt herself drifting deeper she'd turn over or squirm to retain her familiar sense of reality. Afterward she wanted another go, and hit the same herb again but with no effect. This morning she felt really positive about the experience and wants to try it again, but admits that she needs to learn how to submit to the experience.
For me this was an awesome outcome, as she's always trivialised by inner journey experimentations, but now she finally gets it. Anyway, thought I'd just share this. Happy travels everyone.
