SWIM has been into buddhist meditation practices for about 5 years now. And usually before each DMT trip SWIM will meditate on his breath then focus on this intense bright light in SWIMS mind. Then after a deal of time SWIMS body will go numb, SWIM will count down in his head down to 1 then open his eyes and SWIMS friend will have the pipe ready to go. And let me tell you, the experience is unreal from just normally taking it. You are so centered in the experience that you can direct yourself around hyperspace at great deals. Meditation is an excellent tool and especially in conjunction with the molecule!
I agree, I think meditation and prayer were always tools to accompany psychedelics. Somewhere along the way though, someone didn't like the idea of people using these substances and now all the main religions just have the tools left over. I'm sure the same/similar effects can be achieved by just the tools alone. Like setting your car in neutral and rolling down a steep hill. But why? why not turn on the engine and go 200mph down the hill! You'll get further than you ever could before. Just imagine if the Church and all the main religions started taking DMT, or Psilocibin at their services.
I bet if that happened people would start to focus inward again and stop focusing on reaching God through the means of another human. Which would be bad news for organized religion seeing as how big of a cash cow it is. And how much control it has over people.
