Green DMT?

Hi, SWIM is currently in the final stages of an extraction TEK found at erowid Erowid DMT Vaults : Extraction : QT's DMT Extraction Guide So far the result of this extraction is green gunk (probably elf spice in the final stages but what 's with the green color?) SWIM used: MHRB Coleman camp fuel (naphtha) Red Devil Lye Sodium Hydroxide Muriatic Acid Distilled water Stainless steel turkey baster Sterilized Mason jars Digital pH tester SWIM's guess is that the rust inhibitor contained in the naphtha is the culprit but he can't be sure. (SWIM only realized after the tek was in the final stages that his naphtha contained a rust inhibitor.) Can anything be done to get rid of the green contaminants? SWIM thanks you in advance

I didnt completely read the tek you used...but why the muriatic acid? if you are using MHRB there is no need to use acid ( acid is used to remove oils....MHRB contains little to no oils...pretty extensive step that can be skipped) Maybe your Lye was contaminated? I use pure Lye...almost used DRANo that has all kinds of other crap in it that looks suspiciously similar to the color your DMT came out. At no point in my 5 extractions did i ever get that color.

Yea, your first mistake was using QT's tek. Ask anyone here, that tek sucks. It's old and the process has been much improved over time. The extraction teks forum here has many great teks, including Noman's, Lex Coshi's, Rainbowserpent's and Marsofold. As to the green color, I'd bet it was some crap in the colemans fuel that did it. That stuff is not pure and all the additives are bad mojo. Pure VM&P Naphtha is good if you can get it, and there are other clean alternatives if you cannot. I would toss what you've got there and give it another go. I wouldn't risk my health smoking green DMT.

Even if you get VM&P Naptha and recrytallize....unless you know what the contaminents are, they could still potentially fall out of solution along with your crystals. Might be worth a try though. I did finally read the tek you got from Erowid. Holy crap that is way too much work. There is a tek called the Lazy Mans Tek. really easy, more efficient, and you get a yield within a couple of hours http://lecter.org/forum/archive/index.php?t-308.html Basically you basify some water ( to get water to pH at 13, let cool to room temp). Add your MHRB (powdered works best). Stir for a while then add Naptha. Let it settle. Syphon off top layer (contains Naptha and DMT) then let the naptha evaporate off ( use a fan) or crystallize in freezer. Thats it. results in a few hours. To get more yields...repeat steps of basifying water(although not necessary from my experience), add naptha, syphon layer off, evaporate. Voila. repeat till your yields are so small its not worth the trouble. Other teks ive used yield about 1.5-2 grams from 250grams of MHRB, this one has gotten me twice as much at 3.5-4.0 grams from 250grams MHRB. reason you get so much yield is becasue you dont discard or filter out the root bark like other teks tell you to, you work with it till its pretty much drained out all alkaloids.

A possible way to save some spice would be to re-acidify and re-extract it with clean naphta. Search for Lextek doc. However depending on the amount it may not worth the effort.

Since VM&P Naptha is unavailable where swim lives and the Coleman fuel he used is obviously filled with unwanted contaminants, what could he use as an alternative? Could heptane be used?

Thanks for your help everyone. Swim will try to clean up what he has and post pics if results are satisfactory. If not, he'll probably give the STB tek a go.

.. and I'll add my intuitions - I agree with the Coleman fuel idea; don't buy solvents in metal containers as they will likely have stabilizers added to NOT react with the metals. Metals are catalysts, and a green aqueous solution can be made from dissolved iron - ie maybe it was the stainless steel turkey baster !?. HCl will etch into steel, so use only glass turkey basters !~ ( Iron-chelate can be green even before it's dissolved (7% Fe)).

That is the same colour as coleman lamp fuel, they put an adulterant in there that will purposly not evap off. You have to distil colemans lamp fuel. The adulterant is put in the naphtha so people who use it in there cars to make them go fast will permanently dye there fuel system. They do the same thing on large farms for the equiptments fueling system so workeres wont gas up on fuel before going home. Ive gone on ranting about this several times.

Swim wasn't able to successfully extract anything from the first experiment without having it come out greenish and therefore decided to scrap it entirely. Swim can't be sure if the green color is from the muriatic acid reacting with the stainless steel turkey baster or the rust inhibitor found in the Coleman fuel. In any event, his second try was a STB and everything turned OK so far. Thanks for your help everyone
