SWIM has just placed an order for a gallon of soy terpenes.
It is supposed to have nearly the same chemical properties of d-limonene and is 20% less expensive.
When the order arrives he will test if that is true.

EDIT: SWIM is now completely jaded by green-terpenes business ways. Got charged for >$100 of products he never got and had to contact them over 5 times before a refund was given. They never told him that they were unable to ship d-limonene to a Canadian residence and cannot ship soy terpenes to Canada period.
Also took >2 months to get the order. Product is high quality though...

Yes, SWIM is aware of Green-terpene's customer service issues in the last few months but they are running smoothly now.
Also the Health-Canada bill banning shipments of d-limonene to Canadian residences that was the cause of a lot of the issues does not apply to the soy terpenes.
SWIM's order also has a gallon of d-limonene, he asked his employer if he could have it shipped there and provided their website to show the information about the cleaning product he was ordering. They had no problem with that and d-limonene can be shipped to any canadian business

No, SWIM does not work for green terpene. It is just that their product is great and their online chat service is quick and easy for information. Plus there he couldn't find any other way to get d-limonene to Canada, haha.

Where does it say anything about soy terpenes having the same chemical properties? Sorry, couldn't find any mention of that, definitely says they are useful for cleaning, but you really have no idea what you are getting here, it could be a grab bag of a whole slew of different terpenes, not just one as is the case with limonene. They don't even list the purity. I could not find any reliable information on terpenes derived from soy beans anywhere on the web, and the only place that seems to mention it is green terpene...

SWIM is waiting on the MSDS to be sent, but before he ordered he inquired to the customer service person
"I have used d-limonene in the past as a replacement for xylene as a non-polar solvent. Could soy terpenes be used in the same way"
to which he replied
"Yes, soy terpenes should have nearly identical chemical properties."

Once again the subject of the post was "Green terpene's new POSSIBLE d-limonene cousin."
SWIM's Hopeful and optomistic but not assuming it will 100% work.

I tried searching for a while with no luck. So i wonder if the Soy terpene's are cyclic in nature and i wonder if its a single fraction or a party?
This is all rather interesting!

What about trying to extract with any kitchen oil? Wasnt there someone that claimed success with canola oil? Just salt out with vinegar or FASW (or even attempt precipitation with FASI/FASA) and proceed to any of the available purification/conversion methods...

I think there's something really beautiful about the idea of using orange peels that would have otherwise gone to waste...

But it will be interesting to hear more about this. :) And if soy works, who knows what else?

For got to update but appearently soy terpenese are not able to be shipped to Canada so never got to try them.
Also took >2 months to get the d-limonene.

I thought you said you couldn't get D-Limonene into Canada...now you're saying the same thing about soy-terpenes, yet at the same time saying you were wrong about D-Limonene? So your soy-terpenes will arrive in 2+ months or something is what I get from this...is that what you're saying?

Soybean terpenes may be a good candidate based on the fact that soybean oil works as a non-polar layer as is.

D-limonene is available to Canadian businesses but not Canadian residences.
Soy terpenes is not available to Canada at all.
I learned that after confusingly opening the package that was WAY too small for 2 gallon containers (had D-limonene only) then demanding a refund for the soy terpenes that they charged me for and didn't ship.
