Growing in a tent?

Hello everyone, just wondering if any of you have had success growing mimosa tenuiflora in a controlled environment grow tent? I did some reading on care for them and it seems very possible in my opinion, but would love you hear from you guys.

Hey SpectrumFarms,

It's possible to grow Mimosa Tenuiflora in a tent for sure. I had grown one in a 2'x2'x4' tent for two years before moving it next to a window that gets pretty good light. Right now I've got three seedlings in that tent, which is where I will keep them until they get a little stronger.

I don't do anything special to get a pretty healthy plant. The seeds are scarified with rough sand paper, some water is boiled and poured into a cup, and then the seeds take a 12hr soak in the cup. After the soak they are nice and bloated, so I plant them in Foxfarm Ocean Forest soil and move them to larger planters as they grow. There is no humidifier in the tent (Which is usually around 30% humidity without one), a 600 watt led grow light is kept on for 16hrs a day using a timer, and a small stationary fan is running when the light is on. Temperature is usually around 21C, but can get up to 30C in the warmer months.

You will probably need a tent bigger than 2'x2'x4' if you want it in there longer than a few years, or you could just get a bigger one when you run out of space.

Thank you for the reply and info! Looking forward to getting some seedlings started.

Due to the fact you need to use the root bark of M. hostilis and you're planning to use a grow tent, then, have you considered growing psychotria instead?

Depending on how cold your environment is there is pharlaris and acacia options too for outdoor growing.

I haven't looked into the other options for plants to be honest, I definitely will be looking into the ones you mentioned. I live in a climate where it will occasionally ice and snow during winter. I figured indoor gardening would be best.
