Hi all,
Trying my luck with a first time extraction, unfortunately I'm having a ton of trouble with naptha evap tests.
1. Note that the tap water here is hard and leaves residue on all my glass dishes. If this is the case, what's the best way to clean the glass pipettes?
2. I'm using brand new microscope slides that don't appear to be super clean so I cleaned them with 100% iso and a paper towel.
3. Cleaned an already used glass pipette from Amazon with hot tap water. Drew shellite into the pipette from 2 different brands, one leaves obvious residue. The Diggers shellite is much cleaner and just leaves barely visible circle rims, but I'm rating it as a fail. Could it be the residue from the hot water used to clean the pipette?
4. I decided to test the 100% iso itself by drawing into a pipette and putting a few drops on a slide. This also leaves a ton of residue!?
At this point I have no idea how to test the solvent accurately. Does it matter if the iso used to clean the slides leaves residue, even if I immediately wipe the slides dry with iso? I thought about cleaning the pipette by drawing iso into it, but the iso is leaving residue on the slides...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
