I've had my eye on a shrub that I pass on my way to town, and I'm curious if anyone can help me identify it. I finally caught it in bloom, so I have a better chance of an ID. I've looked at a lot of pictures of mimosas and it seems like it could be m.hostilis, but that seems unlikely because I'm outside of the usual habitat.

The photo is one I found online, and pretty much exactly matches the plant I have.

Nevermind, I figured it out. It is Albizia julibrissin.
These grow everywhere in my region. I do believe they have some medicinal qualities. Too bad no spice though. They used to take over my great grandma's yard. She would have out in dry dry august mad i wasnt pulling the roots out weeding the seedlings from the yard. I always and still feel a special attraction to them. they are pretty.
