Help, toluene doesn't seem to be pulling anything

Migrated topic.

It's not what we do, it's how we do it.

My first extraction. ACRB freeze/thaw/shred/vinegar-simmer, salt, base with lye, toluene, stir.
See attached pics. First 2 pics are after sitting for an hour. Toluene is clear.
When I stir it, it turns yellow (3rd pic), but then the color just "drains back down" into the soup (4th pic). I can see that a reddish film sticks to the glass but then drains down also. Then it's nearly clear, with a slight reddish tint to it. I tried stirring it and some red film stuck to the stainless steel stirrer. I'm not sure what the lid to my bottle is made of, so I'm afraid to get the toluene on it, so I am not inverting it, but rather rolling it to get the soup spinning.
Please help, thanks!

There is no relation between color of solvent and what it contains.. Chemistry is in your favor, the principles simply work, reliably, so if you have a basified solution containing dmt and your non-polar solvent is mixed, you can be sure your dmt will move to the non-polar solvent.

Just proceed.

Thank you! Also, update: I shook the heck out of it for 30 seconds, and it definitely settled out yellow. But I am still freaked out about the lid, since I looked up and found that many lids are made of HDPE, which is immediately damaged by toluene. So I think I will stick with the stainless stirrer for my subsequent pulls.

You could maybe use cork, or see if a metal growler cap will fit that vessel. I might even be tempted to just put my thumb over it. Better than plasticizers...just saying.
I thought about a cork, but I thought I might loose product because it would soak into the cork... But I wonder which would be more likely to go into the cork : toluene or aqueous base?
