Help with re-xing

MycoActive

Rising Star
So i have a question....ive am currently re-xing a small batch, and some nice white crystals are forming, but also some very yellow oily stuff around the rim. My guess is that this is fats/oils that were also extracted as well due to leaving my pulls for to long, but I'm not sure? I guess my real question is - do I only want the white crystals?

White is very nice. Yellow can also be DMT, according to this thread. I quote:
Yellow colour can be a number of things:

- Most of the times, yellow DMT is just DMT. Pure DMT itself has been shown to be polymorphic , so yellow does not necessarily mean impurities.

But it can also be other things in some cases :
-Oily non-volatile impure solvent remains, if you use a solvent that doesn't evaporate clean (bad to smoke)
-Plant oils/fatty acids or other natural impurities (more likely ok to smoke, and can even make for a more efficient vaporization as it protects spice from the lighter's heat, though might taste a bit harsher)
-DMT N-oxide mixed in any proportions to DMT (ok to smoke, also psychoactive, some people even prefer it to normal dmt, others dont like it so much but it definitely works and is not dangerous)
- NMT (also psychoactive, though less potent than dmt, about a fourth of the potency).

It can also be a mix of all/any of the above. Usinc clean chemicals to extract will guarantee that at least you don't have any dangerous chemical impurities, and in that case yellow wouldn't be a bad thing in either way.

White spice can be pure but it may have colorless impurities like solvent traces or other invisible trace toxic impurities from chemicals used, which are not good to smoke. If you have made sure to use clean chemicals and clean procedure, and extracted DMT from a clean plant source, white spice is more likely of a reasonable purity.
You could scrape the yellow stuff, and do a mini-A/B on it to get any alkaloids out. If you extracted it from MHRB its probably not alkaloids though.

did you make an evap test?
if your solvent evaps clearly then it should be fine.

with my first extraction i had brown dmt oil and i think that the brown/yellow coloring can also be caused by either too much heat or leaving the soup for too long as you already mentioned.
but even my brown stuff was serving fine.

if you really want white xtals only then you can do a backsalt/mini-AB as @Bas Sarkin recommended.
Just make sure you solvent is good to go.
Also do not use too much heat and only use as much acid water as required.
The more acid water you use when backsalting the more dmt you will sacrefice.

Thanks for all your replies guys. I wasn't necessarily going for white xtals only, and the initial extract was a mixture of white and yellow xtals....but after re-xing there's a significant difference and nearly all the xtals are white but the yellow oily stuff appers to have stayed on top of the naptha and hasnt precipitated. This makes me think it's most likely oils/fats that were extracted from the MHRB. I havnt done an evap test. What would that itail? Sorry if thats a dumb question

An evap test is to check if the naphtha you use evaporates cleanly. If it does, it certainly has no additives, which can show up as pollution in you final product, which could explain your discoloured part. Its most likely just amorphous dmt, but to be sure try this:

Take a meticulously clean glass surface of some kind, and poor a few drops of your solvent onto it, then let it evaporate fully. No trace at all: good. Any trace: additives. You would then have to look them up, to see if those are harmful. If the solvent does not evap cleanly, its best to search for alternatives that do.

You will probably see (in very small letters) some kind of 'cas nr' on the packaging of your solvent. You can look that up to check the all ingredients for example here.

Safe Travels!
