Hey

zazamancer,

Welcome to the Nexus. Your interest in ethnobotany will be well met here.

And it's worth noting that all kinds come here. Not all of us are active users. Some have used in the past and are on long breaks. Some folks have put use in the past. And some have never used.

This is a special, kind of found family, community. I hope you will enjoy your time here.

Hey zazamancer,

Interest in psychedelics is something I love to hear from anyone, but especially someone who has not ever experienced them. I like that more and more people are at the very least showing interest in something I hold dear to my heart. The stigma is starting to break and fall away and maybe someday people who have interest in psychedelics can do so in a therapeutic setting and or enjoy them any way they please without fear of arrest or ridicule.

Welcome!

What kinds of plants are you into and what kinds of altered states? Do have plans to try psychedelics? If so, which ones pique your curiosity the most?
Anything from stuff like valerian and skullcap to chinese herbs to obscure Amazonian psychedelics. Pretty much everything with psychoactive effects. I do have plans to try them eventually, but I'm worried about feeling overwhelmed. Salvia piques my curiosity the most of all of them. The idea of a substance causing such profound effects that the user feels as if they're experiencing multiple eternities with 15 minutes is fascinating to me. I don't think I could handle it at this point though. Mescaline seems like a better entry into psychedelia.

Thank you for sharing!

I'm curious, given that you have yet to get into psychedelics, what got you into the plant bearers of these molecules?

One love

I'm worried about feeling overwhelmed
It's a reasonable worry. Remember that there's no need to be in a hurry or even to try anything. A psychedelic experience is always better when one feels prepared or ready for it (although I think no one ever feels completely ready just before). Even very experienced users will feel not ready at some moments in their lives.

Salvia is a very unique substance. Some people don't seem to mesh very well with it, I'm one of them. I had some insane experiences with Salvia, but unlike other intense psychedelic experiences, I don't feel like I got anything out of it. However, other people seem to get insights or lessons from it.

I haven't tried Mescaline, but it sounds like it could be a good first experience. The one I think is quite good for a first experience is AL-LAD, a relative to LSD that is legal in some countries (and illegal in others, so be careful). The experience is very similar to LSD but gentler and shorter.
