Im here to do more research after seeing the Danny Goler DMT laser vid on YT.

Long story short, Ive managed to get a boot full of Acacia leaves after I spotted that the local council had done some aggressive pruning.
Pl@ntNet says its a A.Dealbata, but I dont agree as its a Cat 2 invasive pest here in Cape Town so I dont see local council planting them.

Anyway, I remember seeing a tek about freeze/thaw cycles but cant recall where it was.

Best get more of a positive ID before randomly extracting from some tree. Good call on rescuing the material though! Twig and branch bark are likely to be active if it's an active species (IF!).

Botany - Acacia and Mimosa Identification Thread

Hey guys. I havnt been able to purchase a field guide as recommended by another member, although today I came across a flowering acacia that looks to be obtusifolia as it flowers between nov-dec in NSW and im just north of sydney. What do you all think about this? Comments appreciated :)
