Horticultural Hydrated Lime

Migrated topic.
Hey all,

I just had a quick question regarding the use of lime in my extraction tek. I used the vinegar-lime tek and was curious if it was ok to use horticultural hydrated lime for the extraction. I believe that it is pure lime with no additives but just wanted to be extra sure so that I don't ingest any nasty stuff like heavy metals, the spice looks and smells fine. If it helps at all I used Ace hardware VM&P naptha as my nonpolar solvent.

Thanks

Thanks q21q21,

Might I add your tek worked very well for my first extraction. I will stick with it for all of my future extractions as well.

The MSDS is pretty confusing. Maybe a better question would be if any of that other crap is soluble in naptha? Thanks again for your input.

SWIM found out that regular old PICKLING LIME, which is cheap and readily available at your local Walmart (not that I'm promoting such a terrible, bloodthirsty corporation) works just as well if not better.

SWIM used hydrated lime ordered from a shamanic vendor the first couple times, then got lazy and tried the pickling stuff. The yields were amazing, not to mention reducing the cost and efficiency that much more =)
