How can I smoke DMT with a small pipe?

Hello, I have available a small pipe which I can use to smoke DMT. I can not make anything else at the moment.

The pipe is 13-14cm long and it is metal. It is homemade but it works surprisingly well for weed. The bowl is also 1.5 cm long but I can make it longer by pushing the steel wool that's placed on the bottom. (I already burned the steel wool, so no toxic coatings are left.)

I also have another piece of steel wool that I can put on top.

I tried countless times and wasted roughly 250mg.

What I do is get the spice, put it on the wool and then add another layer of steel wool on top of it.

Now, how should I light it? I am kind of scared to put the lighter near the dmt as it might burn, but, if I do it from a distance, I smoke so little that the weird body load makes me want to stop.

The visuals that I get are near to none. I can definitely tell that my vision is distorted but I don't get launched into hyperspace nor I see what people call the 'loading zone'.

I do see mild and 'unlit' visuals when I close my eyes. (Unlit means that I can tell that there's a shape there and I can kind of see the borders, but I cannot tell what color it is nor what material it is made of).

Any help? Also, I might buy a vape (if needed, if there are solutions for this without buying anything that's better), any good one that's available thru amazon?.

I use it near minimum temp although I've used it on higher temps that will need more spice but give a more high energy trip.
No faffing around with flames, let it heat up, chuck your spice on the plate, quickly put the dome back on and get into your comfy, draaaaaaaaw draaaaaw draaaaaaaaw!!!!!

I'll edit with some pics later, but I've been using vape pipes made from glass dropper vials and steel mesh. (Safety message: Being very thin glass, I've never used one more than once and wear glasses while i use them in case they break, but a similar and just as effective thing can be made using a cheap chillum type weed pipe that is commonly available in my locality. ) I'll post some pics of one later when i get home but maybe this diagram will help visualize it:

Awesome! This is similar to my pipe, although yours has definitely more steel wool.

Some questions, what do you mean by 'spice impregnated pellet' ? What do you exactly do when placing the dmt in there (step by step plz)?

Lastly, do you use the lighter directly onto the last layer of steel wool or you keep it at a distance?
 
Ha ha I'm glad you made some sense out of that. The "pellet" is just a small rolled up ball of sw with a dose smeared onto it, then the "heat shield" is installed (either just squishing it in- it's crucial to test air flow here...) and once that is done I'll feather the outside with a torch to melt it in.

I use a cheap torch, and keep the bowlat the blue end of the flame. It's pretty foolproof as far as burning goes, I've only used this three times now and there was less taste than when I've used a gvg. It seems to vape very well.
