How do you introduce DMT to the unexperienced?

I knew this day would come... My wife wants to try DMT. We have tripped together with LSD and Psilocybin for years, sometimes she handles the trips better than I do :lol: so she is not going into this completely innocent to the psychedelic experience. DMT however, I have kept separate since I prefer to only smoalk it when I have the house to myself.

Being my life partner she knows of my DMT usage, and I guess more and more movies and shows feature the use of DMT :roll: so now curiosity has arisen in the cat, and you know what they say...

I have always done my own research on things and have pointed people to reputable sources in their own research, so I pointed her to the nexus and hoped for the best. But since she is living with me, I can't just hand her a roadmap and send her on her way... I'm considering telling her if she wants to try it, she will have to extract her own. This way it becomes more personal for her and I hope with the research on how to extract it she will have more preparation for the experience.

My question to you, good Nexians, what is your approach to introducing a friend or loved one to DMT? I have never shared my DMT, so this is a new experience for me.
 
A lot of how I would approach it depends on the experience and motives of the friend. Since your wife has already has experience with other psychedelics, the introduction comes easier.

You can make the introduction to DMT part of your growing intimacy with your wife. Talk with her about what spice has been for you and what your experiences have meant to you (both the comforting and challenging ones).

Also be sure to listen to her expectations and concerns. Coming from a place of intimacy, DMT can become an extension of your relationship.
 
Well I think there are some some general rules of thumb that apply to introducing something of that magnitude to any, or almost any, human being, which is common sense, but these rules are applied to differently and apply differently to everyone.

So, obviously you wouldn't want to give it to someone (in most circumstances, I'm not getting into healing work and all that in this post since that's its own ball of wax) that is clearly "mentally ill" ie schizophrenia , bipolar, major depression etc. But as I'm sure you know, none of us are perfect and the world we live in is loopy and everyone is a little "out there" in their own way, some more openly than others. So with that in mind you have to read the person well enough to make a decision about whether it will effect them negatively etc. Of course with something like this there are no definites but you've got to ballpark it and also realize that it's not your decision to do it, it's there's , and it's your decision to decide whether to help them and if so how much to help them.

As far as having somebody have to extract there own material.... That is up to you. In my opinion I would never do that for a first timer ( if someone was asking for something all the time that's a bit different) because I don't want to have someone do extra work they wouldn't have to do when I can easily help them out and also I don't want to put any "rules" , for lack of a better word, on how they should approach this. Guidelines or suggestions, maybe, yes, but I don't want to "tell" them what to do. Also I honestly don't see a huge connection between wanting to try something and going through all that additional work ( yes, there is an obvious direct connection, clearly it comes from somewhere, and I think it is good to be familiar with that process and it's effects and repercussions etc. if it becomes a semi regular thing, but to want to do it once or twice out of curiosity I don't think it has to much bearing).

But the bottom line is it is different for every person and you have to judge for yourself. Atleast in this case it is someone (I hope) you know very well. In my times in the past (been years) introducing people to this I would get to know them atleast well enough I could say they are more than just an acquaintance (if I saw them randomly we would probably sit down and have a drink if we're in the mood) and I would judge whether I think they are doing ok in regular life now, how much if any experience they have psychedelic wise, how well they know themselves, and then the obvious pragmatic stuff (I wouldn't give it to a cop doing security at a festival). But also in the end, I don't know as much as I think I do and I can't take responsibility for any other persons life and I let them know that.

@Nitegazer, making it a part of our intimacy is an excellent idea. LSD and Psilocybin both have strengthened our relationship in so many ways, if DMT ends up being her thing then I can see that going even deeper. It would also be nice to have an experienced person IRL to discuss the experiences with.

@spractral, in the end it really is her choice whether she goes through with it or not. But I feel responsible for her well being if I'm going to be her key to hyperspace. I know with my own experience, it took me years of research and preparation to decide I wanted to extract my own DMT. Then I had that lovely crystal sitting in my freezer for at least another year before I finally tried it. I considered having her extract her own so she's not kickstarted into the experience without preparation, but you're right that rules are not such a great idea either. Maybe I will just make the suggestion to her that she does an extraction instead of making it a rule. What's mine is hers, so if she is not scared away from the experience after trying it in either case... then she has free access to my supply. Perhaps working together on an extraction can add a special spiritual ingredient to the mix :) so I may just ask her for help with the next one.
 
My wife watched me smoalking for ages before asking if she could try. I gave her the low down about it over a long while and then a small dose... she loved it. Though she hasn't asked again since.

Unless you are giving someone a full on dose straight off the bat, or they don't have psychedelic experience already, there's really not too many warnings on the label. No need to overthink it all so much.

The significant other and I have smoked dmt and changa for a number of years, also several ayahuasca/ayahuasca analogue preps over the years. I wouldn't say too much about it honestly, not to fill her head with anything pre dive. Timeframe of the experience and that no matter what's happening ..she will return - is all I'd say.

Set up a nice comfortable space, relaxed atmosphere, I sort've always treated it as I was having a guest over for dinner, prep is important I think. I never really thought of the prep affecting the experience to any degree in that the experience was still 'the experience' every bit as-itself in all-its-glory, just made entry much smoother and more transitionless, also made coming back to this bit of reality much smoother, also reflection on it much clearer.

But yeah I wouldn't say too much honestly, it's unlanguageable really, and to say anything on it or attempting to describe it in any way automatically begins to degrade it imho [though it's sure fun to do so!], it's beyond description and our ability to language. I would just make sure that the environment is conducive to the experience, give a cursory overview of dosage tiers relative to sub threshold/pre-breakthrough leading up to the breakthrough/full dissolution/full release, whatever name you want to give it. Then it comes down to how deep she's wanting to go, and really that comes down to her own personal decision. Tell her to expect nothing and welcome everything, lay back and smile.

If I know a person, their habits and behavior well enough to turn them on, there's really only two pieces of advice I give them prior to lift off: (one), to empty their mind of all but a concept of universal love, and (two) that none of what they are about to experience comes from them. They are about to contact the 'other', let go of attachment to personal meaning.
 
My new girlfriend had never tried any psychedelic of any sort before she met me. (Insert evil laugh here.. Bwahahaha!) LOL

When we first began dating I mentioned my interest and passions about psychedelic, specifally DMT, and well wouldn't you know it, she kept dating me to my surprise. lol One night she blurted out "I want to try DMT!". I was shocked at first. I kind of just took it in stride and she persisted. She really wanted to see what I was talking about. So, I obliged.

I cleared the space with my ceremony. I loaded up my GVG and she took two very large hits of vapor. Her eyes kind of lost focus on me and she laid her head back on the couch. She was there! I waited quietly for her to come back with excitement. The anticipation was killing me. I couldn't wait to hear what she thought. Especially because she had never even tried shrooms or LSD before. What she was doing took courage and moxie!

When she got back she was smiling ear to ear and I could see a tear in her eye! She simply said "That was beautiful!". She attempted to describe what she was seeing but I could see that she was struggling. I offered her a pen and paper and asked her to take some time and write out anything that came to mind. Below is what she wrote:

Blues and greens, fronds undulating in waves. So calming and familiar. No fear, wonderment. Pulsing light, bright, golden in a sea of blue. I know you, you know me. It envelopes me, it is safe. Gain more knowledge, you have a teacher...you are a teacher, learn to trust instinct. Learn to love. I feel empty and whole at the same time, so tranquil, everything will make sense, don't give in to the sadness that lingers in the corner, shadows of ignorance waiting to consume. See it on the peripheral the light is pulsing faster, so happy, blissful-TAKE IT WITH YOU! Share, embrace, YOU ARE NEVER ALONE. Teacher, companion...me? Keep going, my breaths feel harder to take but I'm at peace if it's time to go. The light whirls, so comforting, pulsing with each labored breath, I don't fully understand, and it worries me, but I'm reassured, loved and held. YOU'LL BE BACK. The fronds are slowing, I can pass my hand through them, it's like holding a song in your palm. I have a lot to learn.

We are planning on LSD this weekend as she has asked to try it. I know she will enjoy it! She is a psychonaut through and through! I tell you this, it has made me look at her in another light altogether. I found her so beautiful and courageous to take the leap in this odd wrold of psychedelics without any hestitation. I asked her why she decided to take this leap. She sinply said "I trust you! You talk about it with such beauty and I wanted to see it!". That blew me away and created an instant bond! I am lucky to have found her! She is truly one of a kind!

@Northerner, you are probably right that I'm overthinking it. But we overthink things for the people we love, right? :)

@Tatt and Null, I pointed her to the nexus without really giving my own guidance because I know how influential your mindset can be on a psychedelic experience. I introduced her to LSD and psilocybin in much the same way. Pointed her to resources and let her decide on her own when the right time would be to get started. I laid out the medical facts regarding safe use and that the experience will be temporary, showed her the LSD reagent test results and she got to watch the fungus grow from a known/trusted spore source, and told her we would trip in a safe environment. She came out of the experiences a new woman who appreciates life and all of its mysteries more than ever before. I think DMT will work out just fine for her.

@DmnStr8, I'm glad you found your psychonaut partner. True soul mate love that goes deeper than any other experience possible in the sober life. Being the one to introduce someone to such an experience is quite an honor. My wife and I are planning a weekend LSD trip as well, so it sounds like we'll all be on the same wavelength 8)

I absolutely loved reading this story. Really opened my heart to being more open with strangers about psychedelics...oftentimes there is a fear that people will judge or persecute. Thanks for sharing this and I hope you both continue to enjoy this exploration together!

That's great, sounds like she has a great person on her hands to help her along. Let us know how things go when it happens. :)
 
The best way I found to do this is to make 1:1 enhanced leaf pack the gvg and make them hit it three times. Maybe give them a mantra such as this is just a drug it will wear off. I found this gets them over the fear. If the lake's a bit cold and you try wading in it can suck, sometimes it's better to just dive in from the dock. I know some will disagree but everyone who ever came to me wanting this experience, well this is how I gave into them. One kid spent months taking one hit then freaking out and when I did this he lost all fear and finally got what she was looking for.

Nice of you to say, thank you!

We did trip some LSD this weekend. It was a light dose so she could dip her toes in the water so to speak. She expressed interest in a higher dose, which is cool, she wants to explore, she is very inquisitive and I enjoy her wonder at it all.

The following day she asked to smoke some DMT. We did this together and ingested lighter doses so as to have an experience together. That is to say we did not want to go into 'hyperspace' and be out of it. We both had a great time with three experiences throughout the day. We both felt a certain familiarity during these sessions. We both felt as though we had known eachother for a very long time even though we only recently met a few months ago. It was truly a wonderful experience this weekend!

I am lucky! What a wonderful person she is!

That is how you know you found someone special. I get the same feeling when tripping with my wife. This past weekend with the LSD trip I even got a motherly type of vibe, which was probably encouraged when she mid trip started making snacks (cut up hot dogs and mac & cheese no doubt) and put on cartoons for us to watch :lol: It felt so familiar and comfortable.

I think we both found keepers DmnStr8 :love:
