Not approved yet?

I really need to know if a post is not approved and why.

Please PM me if you don't approve a post mods, I'm tired of writing them and then they don't get approved and then I lose the text I spend time writing.

I seem to read that some people get the chance to take cacti every day. How many cacti do you have?!

Surely you must need alot of plants to have a chance like that.

Sorry but why is this interesting ,or bothering you ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I have one big old san pedro who I'll take cuttings from next year after she's done flowering.

I also have a new little pedro bought a few months ago, I plan to keep him in the hothouse and try and grow him up mint.

Gotta love the cacti! Have never actually ingested any of the ones I grow, yet, prefer to just have them around growing really. One 2 foot Peruvian torch, 6 Peyotes, 4 large, breeding ones, and many tiny baby Peyotes, San Pedro's and torches. Did have a lot more San Pedros and torches, around a foot tall, but lost all but one last winter in a dodgey greenhouse while I was away :(

What`s the scary plant behind the cacti at bottom pic ?

Oh man, lighten up. I was just pointing out a little hypocrisy on your part in a jokey way and you're turning it into a big thing. I agree that people should grow their own, but I don't think there's any harm in people buying a few chips to discover cacti, so that they then know to invest the time and effort in growing these beautiful things.

But you really want to continue this, so here goes. When you told me about Julio, the source of what you call "True Blues", I asked if you had grown from his seeds and if they were good. You said you hadn't grown from the seeds, but that you had eaten the cacti. I remember it as you saying you'd tried his chips, but maybe you meant fresh cactus. Either way, there is little difference between buying chips off him or buying a cutting at his end- because I have been told he collects both from the wild. Now I like the guy, he's been nice to me, but I have read unfounded rumours about him 'raping mother nature' etc on Shroomery, which shows how hard it is to judge these things and how it is easy to take a negative environmental stance without proper auditing of the true situation. I'm sure you have a lot of cuttings from him (if not, apologies and please explain how at your young age you managed to grow such large 'True Blue' cacti from seeds yourself), so even if you've never had his chips, those are cuttings that he has taken from the wild and the only difference is that he sent them to you fresh instead of drying them first. Now I know that you can grow cutting so they are a bit more sustainable, but in effect not by that much over your lifetime considering how long they take to grow, but for you to have tried them out without buying chips you've have had to buy one and kill it anyway so you may as well have bought chips for your first try. The only way to be as high and mighty as you were being in that comment, is to grow from seeds only. However, you actively tell people to clone instead of seed, which will put them off using seeds because they'll want to buy cuttings instead. And even with the seeds, this could be detrimental if he overharvested the seeds themselves, beause less would be sown in nature, perhaps an unlikely scenario, it would depend how many seeds he sells (and he sells a thousand for just a few dollars). Just as it depends how many chips people buy, or how many cuttings people buy. It's more down to him, and down to us to ask him before we buy so he knows we are concerned.

That's my problem with your position, and why I told you to lighten up. Nobody here has the money to buy large quantities of chips. Everyone here is growing their own, in part thanks to your inspiration so remember I'm not attacking you here, I do value your input. What I'm saying is that everyone has to start somewhere, as you yourself did, and I take exception to people taking pleasure in making excessively judgemental (and I believe hypocritical) comments such as:
They don't do the responsible thing and grow them, they just order them online like they are some sort of cheap party drug :(
I actually found this comment funny, which is why you got a lighthearted response initially. But honestly, who here is using cacti like a 'cheap party drug'? Does ANYONE use cacti like a 'cheap party drug'? Did the natives use White Peyote as a 'cheap party drug', is that why it became extinct before the white man reached the Americas? Maybe they just overharvested it too by mistake- at least we are aware of the problem and good people like those here are trying to protect its weaker cousin, defying the government in doing so. I just wanted to save you from the path of puritanical self-indulgent hypocritical negativity. I tried to correct you in an inobtrusive way, so you could save face. I understand how important that is to you. I wish you hadn't escalated this thing, because now I'm escalating it too, oops. Please accept a :) as an olive branch from me now, and we let's move on. Maybe I should've just left you thinking that your comment was cool and justified. I accept I can be rubbish sometimes... do you accept the same about yourself?

If you're reading this you should know that Coatl and I have a history of disagreeing on other things such as his homophobia and use of racist words, hence my frustration. I won't post in this thread again because I don't want this to drag on. You know I love you really :)

so you could save face.

I have a rat's ass, I am one of the most hated people in all the lands! What face do I have left to save?

Either way, there is little difference between buying chips off him or buying a cutting at his end-

There is a huge difference between live plants and chips.

Live plants can be grown as ornamentals.

Dried chips are drugs, and this is how the law sees it as well.

if not, apologies and please explain how at your young age you managed to grow such large 'True Blue' cacti from seeds yourself

I'm magic.

so even if you've never had his chips, those are cuttings that he has taken from the wild and the only difference is that he sent them to you fresh instead of drying them first.

And that makes all the difference in the world!

Trichocereus is not endangered, Lophophora is, huge difference.

Everyone here is growing their own, in part thanks to your inspiration so remember I'm not attacking you here, I do value your input.

Well thanks but you don't have to act all lovey-dopey to me, I can take it.

What I'm saying is that everyone has to start somewhere, as you yourself did

Right and buying a cutting is fine, hell eat half of it and plant the other half!

Did the natives use White Peyote as a 'cheap party drug', is that why it became extinct before the white man reached the Americas?

1st off it's not extinct, so your wrong there. It's population was greatly reduced due to climate change (I believe). How could I have one if they're extinct?

I just wanted to save you from the path of puritanical self-indulgent hypocritical negativity. I tried to correct you in an inobtrusive way, so you could save face. I understand how important that is to you.

What a prude.

I have three San Pedro, and one Achuma. I thoroughly enjoy just sitting in front of them, and soaking in their stunning presence. I'm waiting patiently for the perfect time to partially harvest one SP, and do 69ron's D-Limo Tek. I've never had cacti tea or mescaline so it's an experience I anticipate highly because of all the praise cacti gets here at the Nexus.
Each Trichocereus will provide about one foot of growth each year, if it has good genetics that should be about one strong trip.
One foot a year??? My SP grew 14 inches in two months over the summer here not including a fat 6 inch pup that shot out of one column. One more reason I love being in California..the long growing seasons are highly productive.
What a prude.
Haha last comment from me... wouldn't it also be a little hypocritical for a puritan to call a polyamorist prude?

I shudder to think what else you wrote before you got moderated, probably a few less savoury insults. I fear I may be forced to ignore your posts from now on, for they are too sordid for my prim little ears!

Hey though you're getting interesting now, please do post a pic of your White Peyote. I thought that they were extinct. Why aren't we all growing those ones, if they aren't? Have you tested it, to see if it is genuine? I heard the fabled White Peyote has a mescaline content double that of williamsii, based on the ones they have found in graves.

Whats with this nonsense? This is some of the most blatant egotistical bickering Ive seen in the cacti thread yet..... Ohayoco, leave it alone! And better yet, reflect on your last few posts, because you got the response you were after!
:(

Yeah I know, I'm sorry, it's not really about chips is it, its about my disliking for homophobic racehaters. I agree I need to drop the passive aggression. I'll take a break from here for a while for some fresh air. Apologies for dragging the thread in the mud.

"They don't do the responsible thing and grow them, they just order them online like they are some sort of cheap party drug"

i actaully found that quite egotistical AND an attempt to instigate these types of arguements..

Our interaction with people on any level whether we dislike them or not, is society... By stirring up arguments or taking a firm position one way or another we are creating the same outcome as a "homophobic racehater"

We shouldnt care if so and so has an opinion about this or that, thats got nothing to do with who we are.

enjoy the fresh air :)
