How many people can make music here?

I thought it would be a good idea if we put together some sort of a DMT NEXUS music compilation of tracks that are inspired by these dimensional voyages we have. Like tracks that reflect our journey with sound.. or something. Anyone up for that?

The stuff I'm working on at the moment is very laid back, very deep, dreamy psychedelic stuff that I'd like to hear whilst tripping to influence it in certain ways. Just the other day I created something in the track I'm working on that sounds exactly like what I get when I've got caapi in my brew. It's weird to hear it.

I think it would be a good little project to work on and share ideas.

Let me know what you think.

I want to get into making electronic psytrance..I dont know where to even start though. I play guitar, drums, didge and learing piano..but no elctronic stuff.

Well the first place to start fractal, is to determine your equipment. Are you a pc or mac?

I can give you some software that might push you in the right direction ;) I also play guitar, drums, piano for 10 years, clarinet, and whats this? Auto harp!!! Harps sound so fucking epic when you are tripping on anything.

I used to do live Techno on a KORG, loved it. Have used frooty loops, reason and cubase to make some psy beats.

Instuments, only the jews harp. I just love the vibrations i get thru my mouth, just amazing.

I screw around here and there with FL Studio and Reason. I also play guitar, drums, didge, some piano, bass guitar. I just lost my job so I am thinking I might try to actually try to put some songs down. I have a lot of bits and pieces but no whole works completed. I have the time now though. I need some equipment though. Hopefully I can get some new gear soon. For now I guess I might try to learn some theory anyone know any good places to learn it from.

So would any of you guys make something for this? ought, even some really minimal soundscape. I'm not no expert but I know reason 4 pretty well and I'm pretty satisfied with the result I get.

i make some sample based hip hopish beats. All sampled from records ive collected. I know a lot of other people here make sample based stuff also. would be cool to compile a track / mix or something like that.

I play guitar and didjeridoo. I own a sitar and a tabla which I can get a tune out of to please myself enough, but I don't often brag about those talents because indian classical folk are among the snobbiest of the snobs and no one would be impressed.

I've been making psy trance for 4 years and I'm quite pleaed with what I'm making at the moment. Just lost my job today, so I'll get chance to finish this track I'm working on at the moment. I'd love you all to hear it, especially as I see a lot of you are listening to trance, I just need to find a way to post it anonymously without someone stealing it.

Maybe an alias myspace acount or something :)

I want to get a modern psy(chedelic) rock trance band together at some point. It's the reason I got into trance, just to learn how to make the sounds to apply them to other things, but one thing leads to another and now the guitarist is a psy trance producer :)

I'll be more than happy to string together part of a nexus compilation. Maybe some tunes suited especially for an ayahuasca session or something. We can make a SHE CD and have simeltaneous aya sessions while we listen :)

Maybe WSaged can even do a quick mastering job on it :)

I have been making music for a loooong time!
Just about to have my debut album come out v soon.
However... somehow I'm not sure if I should broadcast my artist name here... seems silly in a way.. but I dont think I will, atm anyway.

I have recently been playing with more ambient ideas, mostly I make dancefloor stuff, but def been inspired by gloopy super-hi-definition audio of some of my dmt journeys. I use an analog modular synth which is perfect for stuff like that... organic electronic sounds
I'm gonna make an alter ego just for this kinda stuff i reckon... :)

This sounds like fun! I've been considering making a song specifically for the nexus, under my screen name, but I've been so busy lately that it kinda slipped my mind.

I make lo-fi music and play ukulele, acoustic guitar, accordion, keyboard, organ, harmonium, melodica, drums, and I do vocals (throat-singing, mostly). My stuff tends to have a pretty broad range (from folk to electronic to drone, for the most-part), but I'd probably have to do a pretty wild and primitive sort of song.

That's funny I throat sing too. I learned from listening to Huun Huur Tu! I play acoustic guitar, and will post something if I ever figure out how to fully use Steinberg Nuendo...

I play guitar (play bass in a band) and a bit of didg. I have tinkered with making music on my PC but i just don't get the time. I found Ableton Live but be a excellent program and highly recommend it.

I've never played this to anyone.. and bear in mind i don't play keys... but i tried to make a track from what i heard while under some shrooms with visions of the mantids...

don't laugh...

also - maybe a collaborative effort on a tune would be good - if a little difficult in practice.

I like the machine like sounds from 2min +. Reminds me of tripping emotionless.

Ok well theres quite a lot of people on this site who make music, I think we could peice something together in no time.

That's an interesting idea. Even if someone doesn't want to make a full track, but just wants to make some hyper space sounds for someone else to use that would be good. We could even make a sound bank for that.

We could even make some album art for the compilation, something you could print out and put with a cd case. Obviously this ain't going to be for some mass production, but I think it's a pretty cool thing to have.

I'm going to have a track I want to use pretty soon. Thing is though I've not used mastering software before, and I've problems previously where the sound is different to how it sounded when I recorded it, or it not being loud enough when played. So I'll have to download some software for that and work it out.

Although I am not good at music making at all, this thread made me remember an old friend who was really into it... He lived alone in a 20 m2 apartment with his computer, and made music all day. It was his only obsession and love. Nowadays he's traveling the world, playing at festivals under the name "Chemical Sp00n".

I've put up some of his early work on the web because I think they are worth sharing. The mastering and song structure is kind of crap compared to what he's doing nowadays, but the tracks still carry that certain über-psychedelic vibe that I very much appreciate in trance music.

Here they are:
