How much DMT should I take

Apestyle

Rising Star
I'm currently in a point in life where I don't know what to do with it anymore, so I want DMT to help me find a purpose. I was wondering what the correct dosage would be for my first time trying it.

DMT is unlikely to help you find purpose in life. Have you considered traveling, volunteering your time in pro-social ways, or trying to foster connection with other living beings and seeing what comes from that?

DMT is just a drug (and one that can be profoundly destabilizing even when it seems like life is going well). I wouldn't suggest seeking answers from it. Not only because it's just a drug, but also because you may come to find that you don't actually understand the questions you're asking and/or that any "answer(s)" you might receive may be far more ontologically challenging than anything you're expecting.

Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. DMT is unlikely to provide enlightenment (or a purpose for your life), but by tending to the necessities of life (and your needs as a hairless ape who thrives on social connections that are increasingly hard to come by these days), you may find greater purpose in life. Sprinkling a little DMT on top of that can spice up your life in profoundly enriching ways, but that's rather different than the question posed above.

Just as any other similar topic on Nexus it shows that there are as many opinions as people around.
How you relate to DMT is very personal and depends on a number of factors.
No one can say what it's going to mean to any particular individual.
Maybe it's not the answer, but it very well could be a door to your answer.
Start slow, prioritize safety and see for yourself.

@Memberberries DMT is a Holy Molecule, and it has helped me and many other people. It's not 'just a drug', so please do not use that term in reference to the Holy Molecule!

You can choose to believe it’s sacred, that’s your personal decision. But don’t expect others to hold the same beliefs. Let’s not confuse your feelings with the reality of others.

@Memberberries I wholeheartedly agree, making the use of an drug your purpose in life is not the best idea.

To the OP, I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. It’s heavy when life feels directionless, and I respect that you’re looking for something deeper to reconnect with meaning or purpose. Many people at an certain point in life experience these feelings, the most productive solution however is usually not to take an psychedelic, let alone hope it will give you the purpose of your life.

If you decide to go through and try DMT don’t be too surprised when you don’t find what you’re looking for, feeling that you belong and seeing a path in your life is not so easy. While DMT can offer powerful, strange, and beautiful experiences, it doesn’t hand out answers. What it shows you is often abstract, overwhelming, or impossible to fully explain. Most people come back with more questions than they started with.

Real change, purpose, and belonging are usually built slowly, as memberberries said it’s mostly through action, relationships, and self-reflection in everyday life and not through a single intense experience, no matter how “cosmic” it feels in the moment.

DMT might shift your perspective temporarily, but it won’t do the real work for you. Only you can do that, step by step, in the real world.

Take care

Where some see crackers and wine, others see the body and blood of Christ. What's holy to one may not be holy to another.

Also, it can be a drug and holy at the same time. They're not mutually exclusive. "A Holy drug," Easy. The hang up on the term drug is connected to an individuals connotations and associations to the term in this context.

To reiterate, DMT will likely give you more questions than answers. However, those questions can open your mind to new avenues that can help you to decide what to do with your life. Don't expect anyone or anything to solve this for you. It's okay to ask for assistance.

Depending on sensitivity to other substances, I would suggest starting around 10-15mg and scale up by 3-5mg.

Life is hard. It's okay. <3

It is your belief though.

You know, the word 'drug' has a negative connotation due to the 'drug war' and related stuff. I would avoid using this cursed word.

This, you are a wise man.

Not I. I've listened to too much Shulgin to have a negative connotation. So the word being "cursed" isn't even debatable in my mind. It's a lil nonsensical. While words have power, they don't have absolute power.

Following that logic, does the word "holy" have a negative connotation because of the "holy wars" (i.e. the Crusades)? Do you see how you're unsuccessfully playing a game of semantics? I believe you're coming at this from a good place, a place of protecting the value of psychedelics, but you're doing a poor job at properly conveying your point.

Just to remind everyone, the question was quite straightforward.
I have answered this question right away.

"holy wars"
No wars are holy my brother all wars are disaster for people.

Okay then. I can review my opinion on this word.

Was it, though?

I'm currently in a point in life where I don't know what to do with it anymore, so I want DMT to help me find a purpose. I was wondering what the correct dosage would be for my first time trying it.

The question was both presented in the context of hoping that DMT would help OP find a purpose in their life and asked by someone who has never done DMT before. The twofold reality of having no DMT experience (to the point of asking for basic dosing information that's readily available) and having major expectations from this drug (whether psychedelic substance or sacrament is irrelevant, imo), sends up red flags for me and suggests that engagement beyond simple dosing information is warranted.

Put simply, if someone came to me hoping to find purpose in their life through the use of any psychedelic, I would urge caution and suggest alternatives (while perhaps trying to learn more about the lack of purpose and desire/hope for a psychedelic catalyst). In the case of DMT, I would urge extra caution.

If you saw someone powering up a Stargate (while asking how to use it) in order to take a trip to the local convenience store, you might say something (beyond showing them which symbols to punch in), no?

This is what I saw reading the end.
