how thick can the naphtha layer be when recrystalizing ?

will it still recrystalize in the freezer if there is 5cm of over-saturated naphthat in the glass pan? Or will there be small crystals that won't fall and attach to the bottom?
Is it possible to do it with a big 1L jar?

Make sure the cooling is as slow as possible - insulate the container and chill it for a while in the fridge before transferring to the freezer. This will favour the formation of larger crystals, as well as giving more time for molecular diffusion processes to redistribute the solute back into the crstallisation zone.
