How to get 99% isopropyl alcohol

anhydrous magnesium sulfate is used to "dry" acetone; the powder absorbs the water and is filtered out.

can this be done with rubbing alcohol? I have 91% but a higher purity would be more useful.

I guess the question is, is the magnesium sulfate more soluble in water or iso?
 
Jorkest started a thread about the same thing and I here that he had some good results. Have a look for the thread, it should be around somewhere.
 
I remember a post by syzygypsy saying that adding plenty of salt and decanting the IPA will get rid of a lot of water too, but never tested myself so cant say for sure

the sodium carbonate way of drying IPA 69ron posted on that linked thread above seems simple enough also :)
