How to pour off the naphta without getting everything else with it?

So I've just done the Lazy Man's Tek and now have a jar full of black liquid in my bathtub.
My question is, how am I supposed to get the naphta (that is the top layer?) onto a plate or similar?
When I tried to pour the liquid onto a plate, everything (including the black liquid) went to the plate.

Buy a glass baster and suck it off and put it in a large shot glass, then let that separate incase there is any of the lye solution in it. Then you can separate the two layers easily for evap. I use a shot glass that fits six shots, but a talkk skinny tube would work.

Oh how every one would jsut love to have a sep funnel. Since taht is not the case, you have a few options, I am going to give you 2 of them.

1. Use a glass baster

2. Use a pipette

both use the same concept.
