I did a pull with white spirit :(

I did a pull with white spirit because I figured it was worth testing as it would be a much cheaper route than lighter fluid. Nothing will crash out of it and it doesnt seem to want to evap. Ive read that this only works with odorless white spirit (wish I'd read this before I tried it). Im just wondering if I should just throw it away or is there anything I can do with it?

Do you have fumaric acid?

If not how about vinegar, hcl, citric or phosphoric acid? small quantities of any of these things in solution once mixed into the white spirit will cause the dmt to crash out and migrate into the aqueous layer. then you can evap the liquid that comes out on a flat dish giving you dmt in its salt form and you will have to freebase it again, but you will get all the goods. But if you think it's a substantial pull then I wouldn't throw it out.

I've tried a couple of different grades of white spirit and I wouldn't recommend any of them.

What volume of white spirit did you use, and for how big an extraction?

It's said that white spirit isn't the best choice, but thus far it is the only solvent I have used and I've got decent results - enough to last me the last 6-8 months anyway. I'm guessing if the volume is so much that it isn't saturated then you will have trouble crashing out crystals, and that stuff will take an age to evaporate so that's not an option. How long have you left it in the freezer for?

Swim didnt have scales when he did most of the pulls so wouldnt know how much was expected to come out. Not much at all he would think it was only 250g MHRB to begin with. White spirit was about 300ml+

Well you only have to evap the vinegar... actually you don't REALLY need to evap that even. The DMT in the solvent mixed well with vinegar will convert to DMT acetate that is not soluble in white spirit. The solvent and liquid layer will seperate and the DMT will now be in the liquid layer, which can then be rebasified and pulled from with a more suitable solvent.

The way I'd do it is to use 50ml of vinegar and mix thoroughly with the white spirit for 5 minutes. Then I'd evap the vinegar just to make sure the goods are there. I'd then repeat at least 2x then redisolve the DMT acetate in a little water (I wouldn't bother trying to scrape this stuff as it's just a goo) then I'd collect the water and add the NaOH and carry on as I was before using 50ml Lighter fluid for each pull. It's better to use too little solvent than too much.

250g has an estimated yield of 2.5g DMT. With 300ml of white spirit you could possiblt have collected 60%+ of that total, so I'd say it's very possible you could have over 1g of DMT in that white spirit. That's a lot to me

Ah I see oh thanks I will try that right away. Theres probabally more than I think in there as I havent owned a pair of scales for a long time.

I find quantitys like 50ml difficult to pull as it only covers a few mm in height so I end up pulling nastys out of the soup I'll give it a shot though. Do you do a couple of 50ml pulls and combine them?

I know what you mean about it being diffucult to pull, I tend to add 100mls at a time, pull it as best I can but what I do is pull it into a jar that I know will contain some bark and lye but attempt to keep it to a minimum. I'll then let that settle out and then seperate the white spirit into another jar to ensure as little lye water is included. Repeat this 3-4 times and pool all into one or two jars and freeze precipitate. I take it you are doing Noman Tek? I don't think you get the best yield on this tek overall because it's messy and labourious, the next time I need to extract I'm going to try Q21Q21's lime tek, seems incredible easy and straight forward, you should check it out.

I'm thinking with a single 300ml pull you might not have got all that the bark has to offer - try doing a 100ml pull on the bark that is left doing it the way I described above, if you get good crystal fall out on that it may be a good indication that the 300ml pull didnt grab the majority of the good stuff and repeating 100ml pulls could pay off.

What I used to do is just pull what you can into something like a shot glass, then pull again aided by the narrow space.

Thats good advice Methtical I'll try this from now on as the brown soup bits that get in do tend to stick to the bottom so sounds like a good idea. Also swims doing the marsofold tek but would be hugely greatful for any advice on this subject as to good tek for yeilds and such. I have to admit I'm getting better at doing pulls and can get pretty close to that last layer.

Also soulfood I've thought about doing that and it sounds a bit tidyer so I'll be sure to give it a go. Just curious though, you said 'used to', do you have a better technique now?

I use do the whole process in a narrow bottle these days. 100ml is like a good solid 2 inches of pulling space in it
