I get high and play guitar

4 Years ago I picked up a classical guitar and learned to play it by the slowest, most arrogant method possible. By myself. I dont know what notes I'm playing by name.

In the last 12 months or so I've reintroduced myself to cannabis, increasing the evening only smoke frequency to addict levels in the last six months. In terms of consumption however, when I quit a destructive weed habit about 18 years ago I was then smoking over 1oz per week.

I've hit a mode where I currently consume ~7g a month whilst still partaking almost every evening. So far the benefits outweigh the negatives. I love this slippery slope with the dark green goddess.

Anyhow, I smoke a little small skin, play guitar and record the very moment I finish smoking. No plan just let the lady play through me. I'm very accustomed to flow state activities and most of them I would never do anything but sober. But I really would put a strong case for cannabis enhancing the creation of music as much as the listening to it.

I cannot say if it my mood that sets the sounds of each piece or that of the plant conciousness. Perhaps a dance or fight between the two.

Thank you friends, if you read my first mad rambling of 2026. If you'd like to listen to the song of a singal cannabis trip there is an attached file. I dont have any proper recording hardware, sorry! It would probably sound better if you're high and definitely needs a bass capable speaker or headphone.

Love this instrument so much. I'm not professing to be any good yet! It's saved my soul in some senses the last 4 years. I want soooooo badly to get good at guitar. Practicing feels like therapy.

Lots of love to all

So I listened to those scratchy recordings and worked on the muse's lessons for a few weeks.

The creative process with music and cannabis for me does not mean I'll get a perfect recording first time, not by a long shot.

Using the foundation of what came from that weed trip I must put a bunch of effort in to realise anything really worth listening to.

Already sounding much more like a piece of music.

Thanks for listening/reading

Hi fink.

I'm not great at it as of yet but I've been getting familiar with some of the abilities via PC on a Digital Audio Workstation (D.A.W.) called Reaper
armed with Native Insruments Guitar Rig 7.
It replaces things like physical multitrackers, mixers, and effects processors.
It can be wired or mic'd in via souncard or Audio Interface, depending, and can work with classical/nylon, acoustic, electric guitar, etc.

Sounds like you got some good feel there for musical expression and a good ear.

A balanced amount of scheduled in cannabis can help make music more spatial, and the wrong amount or frequency can hurt the creativity. I'm familiar.

Keep up with the music. Cheers.

Thank you for this Darian. Very complimentary and encouraging. You're absolutely right about balance with cannabis.

I've messed around quite a bit with Reason. Not so much for live effects or recording, but adding a reverb or tweaking the EQs can be a lot of fun for me. I've taken a few guitar loops and added some beats and bass lines, also really rewarding.

This Reaper DAW is for live effects I"m assuming? I'd love to play with a live reverb effect. My family might not like it so much just yet :)

One of my goals right now is to keep practicing to be good enough that spending some budget on proper recording hardware would be deserved.
