I hereby hypothesize our universe is inside something!

Of all the miserably obvious hypotheses I've to make, this one must rank as the most CORRECT one. We're INSIDE SOMETHING GOD DAMMIT!!!

Why in the living hell would science assume the "outter reaches" of the visible(and/or known) universe is the outermost reaches of all that exists!?! Whaaaat a giant leap of faith!!!
1000 miles from what we know as the known universe's could be a big fucking egg shell. I think astronomy must be wearing one giant set of balls to state our shell of light is the shell of everything.

And if something WERE around us, perhaps that something could account for the missing links between relativity and the quantum.... Do any physicist propose such a concept? I guess it's sort of the braneworld concept, but not really.... ah shit, anyways.. we're inside something and that's that, I hereby propose.

By the way, I came to this conclusion while tripping on the thought that we were all living in some beings giant scrotum sac! HAHAHAHHAHAHA..... that's what drugs do to you! No wonder I keep doing them, hehehehe I could never go back to normal thinking, boooooooooooring.

:)-*

if m theory is correct, then yes, exactly, we are inside of something, so to say...

our universe is one membrane vibrating across hyperspace, like a bubble, and there are many other bubbles around. In fact, this model makes coherent mathematical explanations for the big bang, which would be a collision between two (or more?) vibrating membranes. So universes must be created all the time, like ron once said that the universe is a thought in God's mind, and the collision of thoughts create new existences. :D

Actually astronomers and cosmologists have speculated that beyond the visible universe could be either more of the universe we are used to or vastly different areas with different laws of nature that evolved much differently then our "pocket" universe within a multiverse so to speak. Very few people think that the visible universe is all there is because thats a bit "human" centered. But unfortunately if we can't see or detect anything from these deep regions of space we may never really know what they look like.

Or the universe pockets are actually the size of atoms in correlation to another dimension.

Our whole universe could just be a mere atom that exists as part of another dimension which has its own universe.

The loop is never ending.

Here's a nice summary of a interesting recent model of the universe called the cyclic universe.

Basically the most popular universe model is the inflationary model the cyclic model is newer. There will soon be expiremental evidence to lean in favor of one or the other which is exciting.

The scary part about inflation is then it might be possible that one day our universe is so spread out an so vast and so cold that nothing could ever exist ever again within it. The cyclic universe is more intuitively pleasing. But regardless they are up for debate.

I agree totally with the OP, we are definately INSIDE something. But something very very small I think, and yet extremely advanced, atleast to advanced for us to convey. Depending on the perspective, I can imagine us as tiny cells, acting just like cells do. Dividing, Expanding etc etc. And if we expand that a little, we are cells on a big living organism, Gaia.

Sadly, many of us, the "stronger" cells are wiping us normal cells out, spreading exactly like cancer. Exactly acting like cancer! Dividing uncontrollably, Mutating ourselves and our surroundings, building unnatural structures/buildings(melanoma), roads, wiping the trees etc. Killing our host-organism Gaia, just like cancer. Thats what happening now, but thats a little sad perspective. But its a reocurring thought I get during some mystical states.

A even furthur away perspective is like some above poster mentioned, is atoms. I can somehow relate to that, Ive thought in the same patterns. I think some aspects of the universe really look atom-like. Planets(electrons?) rotating around a sun(atom-core) etc etc... No one has been into the sun so who knows how much it ressembles a close atom-core with quarks and such stuff, and even on quantum-levels...

So yes, we are definately inside something, But why, and What??

Anyway, I will stop my rambling, I just wanted to share some thoughts on a subject I also tend to think alot about.

Im no physics-genious or anything, so facts may def. disprove my thoughts, no doubt about that :)

Keep your eyes at the skyes mates!
