Once before swim did a boiling tea on san pedro extraction and it turned out pretty crappy. Swim is going to a rave on thursday and wanted to know if this proceedure is going well.

Swim took 3 & 1/2 1 foot cacti and froze them solid in the deep freeze.
Following instructions from "http://designer-drugs.com/pte/12.162.180.114/dcd/chemistry/mescaline.extraction.html" swim blended into a fine froth the cacti and then placed them into jars with 50% water, 50% cacti pulp. Took a mix bag of citric acid, tartaric acid, & malic acid and added that to the jars to extract the alkaloids into the water (50g used in aprox 2L of water, final PH ~ 3. Swim has been shaking the jars intermittantly to help the process along.

Plan for tomorrow:
Swim will strain out the cacti pulp and move the mixed acid into a large glass carboy. The cacti pulp will be dried and saved for later use -or swim found a place he can get pure citric acid, so maybe can do two more pulls in citric acid & water. What would Swiu think? Finally swim will use xylene to defat the aqueous, performing several pulls of fats into xylene (swim believes that acidic mesc will remain in aqueous solution). Swim will then dry the aqueous solution and unfortunately thinks he will have a mix of mesc citrate/fartate/malate when he is done.

Does this sound reasonable? It says in swims tek that he should basify and move into xylene then back into aqueous but he isnt sure why he should do that or if he has time. Swim was prompted to write this because on different thread he noted that people were talking about mesc tartate not being very soluble in water: swim immediately went *shit* because he is doing extraction currently in mixed organic acids -will this ruin swims chances of having good rave time on thursday?

Swim knows he is dumb, and will be better prepared for folk fest in aug -but this was more of a trial run anyway. Any constructive critism is welcome. Swim is mildly confused by all of the different teks online but thinks this forum seems to be one of the best he has seen. He has access to lye, 30% hcl solu, citric acid powder, 93% alcohol (large quantities made in swims still), xylene, and whatever else. Could somone link/suggest a good tek that is easy to follow and swiu can recommend as having good yields.

Swim doesnt mind even eating a bunch of goop scrapped off the pan, as long as it works better well.

Alright well no one has ANY advice for me lol, i dont know if that is a good sign a bad sign or if everyone whom read my post so far just went... whaaaat? Well forging ahead then, i'm currently pouring the stuff through a HUGE funnel into a rather large picture for juice -it is a golden color and smells strongly of cacti so i think that is very promising. Far better so far than the boiling water thing swim did last summer. I guess as it is now too late for anyone to give me advice ill just keep going.

SWIM needs to go to superstore and try to find something glass to defatt er in, was smart enough to try a drop of xylene on the outside of the plastic container swim originally intended to use -DEFINATELY NOT!! lol that would have been a total disaster but funny.

Do a couple defatting runs tonight and throw er in the ez-bake oven after to remove the h2o, then tomorrow DOWN THE HATCH!! I have high hopes and expectations -it cant be worse than the water extraction and even that was pretty damn good overall (my first 3 sum lol, and it wasnt even me & two girls :s but still epic)

Oh well i guess i will post his results: if nothing else swim is following the extract directions basically to a tea, except he is not moving the mesc into the xylene and back into the water. That seems like a pointless step if your doing a bunch of defatting using xylene -and more than being pointless swim could see a large drop in yield from moving phases 2x for no reason + a bunch of work. ,

I dont think it will be a problem as the PH is around 2 and my stomach is around PH 2, so im just thinking it will likely be alright. One thing swim is having a fricking hell of a time with is the xylene: WTF is swim supposed to use that in for the defatting?

If swim uses a pure glass jar it leaks, if he uses a jar with a rubber or plastic seal the xylene will eat through it!! I dont have a ficken clue what to tell him as i dont have the damndiest clue. Bought a couple different glass containers at superstore and even some sticky tack to try to stop them from leaking -but the xylene eats the sticky tack!!

If someone could give swim some advice by the AM that would be ducky as swim really wants to finish this before the rave tomorrow night. Swim supposes he can just drink the liquid extract he got today... but sure doesnt WANT to.

I seriously think its a bad idea to eat a solution that acidic!!! Its gonna taste like hell, feel like hell in the stomach and probably not healthy either (I wonder if youre gonna be able to keep that down without purging, or if the nausea might ruin your night out)....

I would say either do it properly by basing and extracting with xylene and salting again with acid, or dont do it and have fun without cactus in the party... next time you might as well do ron's food safe extraction or house's resin tek (check the wiki) which is waaaay easier and safe

as for the container, if your xylene already ate through some plastic seal or sticky tack, this means this stuff might be on your final product, which is not good...

instead of needing a container that closes perfectly to shake it, why dont you instead forget about the top, and just use a long wood stick to stir the liquid around? this way you dont need the top..

If you want full spectrum extract then i suggest simple resin tek.

You guys really think the citric acid is going to make me sick? you got me worried now, its food safe after all.... i still have a couple grams of it left, i think im gona throw some into a capsul and down the hatch right now -better find out sooner rather than later!! : )

Swims product isnt contaminated, swim used an eye dropper to put drops of xylene onto perspective substances to check them first (lol SWIM isnt THAT dumb ) but that shit sure eats through everything hydrophobic!! i have read several teks with xylene in them but no one has mentioned what kind of container you should use or were to get it.

I like this stirring idea, thanks for that -it gave me an idea of using a turkey baster to suck up the bottom layer and distribute it on the top: so then it will have to flow threw to the bottom again. Maybe not as good as flipping over -but better than not defatting at all.

I just downed 10 grams of mixed acid, if that gets me a tummy ache i know that i will need to fix the solution before ingesting it. I think i could just use some baking soda to nuetralize the acid. Ill report back.

And a couple grams of critic acid isn't going to make you ill, but a few ounces (like you have in your brew) probably will
