Hi everyone!
As The Traver said, I asked him to make this subforum so that we can securely provide feedback and support to LaTorre, who plans on writing a review on dmt. Apart from the mods and LaTorre, 3 other members (benz, joe, laughingcat) who have good grasp of the dmt literature and/or experience in the nasty politics of scientific publication can see this subforum. However, if you guys feel that there are other members that could be of valuable help please propose them and The Traveler can grant them access.
My incentive for initiating this is that it is essential to have a thorough, well-written dmt review out there. Currently such a thing does not exist and a good, no-bs review might be the one that would spark dmt research interest in more academics. My main reason for wanting a pristine dmt review is that the published literature on psychedelics is much more limited compared to e.g. cancer biology. The issue therefore is that any misinformation/misquotings/misinterpretations written and published in a review will not be evened out by a larger body of better literature. As a result, poor statements published in a review (even a peer-reviewed paper) are more likely to linger around.
Maybe I am saying the above because I read one crappy review or original study too many lately and because the peer-review is grossly incomplete. I am a frequent paper reviewer and I am amazed how often the other reviewer (yes, each publication is only reviewed by 2 people only) to whose comments I normally have access, miss major methodological or interpretative flaws.
Aaaanyway. One way I have found useful when writing papers in collaboration with a bunch of other people of various affiliations is to provide them with a ms word document of the text onto which they can (after clicking the Track Changes option) re-write, add, correct portions of the text and/or add specific comments. But we might find a better way to work and communicate though this subforum, whichever way works better!
Cheers and thanks in advance for any help,
Infun
