I am using fresh cactus and pulling with Xylene and salting with sulfuric acid. After mixing the Xylene with the basified cactus and pulling the Xylene into a new container, I understand that you want to add water to this NPS so that you can take pH readings and also to help the mescaline sulfate precipitate out more effectively when the solvent gets salted.
My first question: What is the best ratio of water:Xylene (nps)? ---- The Kash A/B tek calls for a 1:2 ratio of water:NPS so I assume this suffices.
My second question: I have heard that filtering the Xylene+mescaline through coffee filter paper works, but is slow, tedious removing crystals from paper, and some crystals can make it through the filter paper. Does anyone recommend using a hand-operated vacuum pump?
I am using a large amount of cactus and pretty large amounts of Xylene so I am thinking of just buying a vacuum filter kit on Amazon to speed this process up and make it more efficient
