I've got to disagree 100% with you bufoman.

Low doses of DMT can be dysphoric and can turn people off to DMT for good.  I personally always give 30-50mgs to a neophyte.  30mgs if they have never done any psycadelics and 50mgs if they have and enjoy them.

However, I ALWAYS give a short speach about DMT before lift off, it's effects, what to expect, its duration and what the comedown is like.  Sometimes, but not always, I will give a recount of things I have seen...though I really prefer to hear about someones experience that has NEVER heard McKenna, or read a trip report, or heard my stories...that way I know that their experience was not influenced in any way.  I also always am present for their launch.  I don't leave them with a vial and say good luck.

My friend's fiance's first experience with ANY mind altering substances was with DMT about 3 weeks ago.  My friend wanted to give her a sub-breakthrough dose, but loaded up 40mgs so he could have a bit after her.  She ended up taking the entire 40mgs and is VERY glad she did.  I think a sub-breakthrough dose would have left her confused and shaken instead of full of love and life.  She has since done spice quite a few times, always with a full breakthough.

My first 2 experiences (a year apart) were both full breakthroughs and I'm glad they were!  If all I had was a sub-breakthrough dose I might have never tried it again.  Because of the short duration I believe that even if someone has a terrifying experience that a few kind words and a "close your eyes, it will get better very soon" is all that is needed.

If you want to ease someone into psycadelics then give them some mushrooms, or an RC....make a night of it, and make sure you are there with them, esp if you supplied the mushrooms!
