Is a plastic siphoning kit safe to use? NEEDS A TIMELY RESPONSE

hey guys remember me?

well SWIM is starting his extraction tommorw. SWIM finally found Sodium Hydroixide and SWIM using norman tek wit no amonia wash lol :lol:

SWIM was wondering if a siphoning device is safe to use since it does say no harsh chemcials in on the back of packaging. schould SWIM just use a glass turkery baster if SWIM cannot find glass one or is it safe??

SWIM is using a device that looks like this possible same plastic material

I dont think that will be all that good.
As of right now swim has been dumping the solvent layer off into another jar with alittle of the dark stuff to make sure all the solvent got out. Then he uses his mouth to siphon with a plastic tube one would use for air pumps in a fish tank. You can get like 30 feet of the stuff for like $5 at a pet store. Just try not to get the nasty solvent and base solution in your mouth.
Until swim makes a decent seperatory funnel replacement he will do it this way. :roll:

On a side note. Turkey basters never worked out for me. They could have been too cheap. So when your on the last little bit of solvent you can always use a syringe or pipette. Or do the sandwhich baggie seperation. Those work good.

plastic turkey baster worked for swim, but all plastics differ, Glass is best. but one could risk using plastic, swim did and it was fine.

Isnt this a dangerous way to syphon because wat happeneds if u accidently get a mixture of toxic lye and other solvents in your mouth, and isnt the tube made of plastic/aryclic anyway. SWIM doe not understand why these syphoning device would not be good enough? btw the syphongign device pictured is not identenical to waht SWIM has.

Yeah it can be dangerous but Ive had cleaning jobs were Ive gotten stuff like NaOH rocks in my eye so Im kind of used the burns. Not saying its smart but when I got nothing else I dont think twice about it.

I didnt think it would be good because Ive had a pump like the one pictured (not used for extractions) and the thing pretty much got cracks in it and fell apart just from me pumping it.
