Blimpy's best bud (henceforth b3) has wanted to extract spice for a long time. He tried 3 times and on the 3rd time it worked! B3 used q21q21's extraction because b3 does not like the idea of strong chemicals (HUGE THANKS to q21q21 for making something so easy and safe).
The first time a number of problems occured. B3 is a rather distracted person generally and took about 5 times longer on each step than was recommended. Then he tried to evaporate the vinegar on a nonstick baking tray. The surface of the started to bubble and b3 decided it would be best to just start over and be generally more careful. B3 also recommends pyrex as opposed to anything with a nonstick coating.
The second time b3 actually made the spice but second guessed himself. Also, he got greedy when removing the layer of vinegar that contained the spice from the limonene and tried to get every last drop. In doing so he got a good amount of the limonene in the mix. B3 thought that the general brown gooeyness of the mixture was the limonene and not the spice (b3 should've done more looking at pics in the nexus) so that batch went down the drain as well.
B3 enlisted a friend to help with the third attempt (not myself of course). This made the whole thing more fun. It worked like a charm and yielded .5 grams of a dark brown goo with little crystally dots in it and, in the thin spots on the pyrex, fishbone crystaline patterns, from 50 grams of MHRB.
Yesterday b3 and friend bioassayed their spice. They started very small and worked their way up. It took them a while to get the technique down and much spice was wasted. They started out very small with around .010g and worked up from there:
~.010 mg caused a feeling that all was not as it was before inhalation and added some intensity to the colors. The wood door momentarily had an interesting blotch of geometrical shapiness on it.
~.020 caused pronounced increase in color sensitivity and for a few seconds in the curved edge where b3's wall meets his ceiling he say what can best be described as a circle of color with a symbol similar to something seen in the Book of Changes in it. This circle seemed to have a strange color bending gravity that bent the colors directly around it.
~.040 mg b3 inhaled twice and each time coughed out the extremely harsh vapor/smoke because his lungs do not enjoy smoke, especially smoke this harsh. B3 was hit by an extreme heaviness and could barely get the pipe onto the window sill. He was lying down because he had read this was the safest way to avoid head wounds. B3 closed his eyes and say a grid that extended infinitely in all directions. The points of intersection were white in the black background. Dots in the grid started moving forward to make a relief of the head of a pharoah then they sunk back into the flat grid. The dots in the same part of the grid then pushed out again to form the head of a small baby then they sunk back into the flat grid. Somewhere in there b3 managed to say to his friend "I see Egyptians."
Shortly after that the grid went away and he only felt the extreme color enhancement and a generalized positive feeling plus the heaviness. The intense part of the experience lasted somewhere around a minute.
After these experiences b3 has a few questions he would like me to ask:
1. Is it normal for threshold experiences like this to only last a minute or two? If not is the short duration related to the purity of the product?
2. B3 says there is still a faint orangy taste/smell to the spice. B3's friend has ideas on how to eliminate this in the next batch by using a very thin needle instead of a turkey baster and finding a way to siphon out the spice containing vinegar so as to minimize the dipping/redipping/surface area that touches the limonene. There isn't really a problem with smoking/vaporizing a tiny bit of limonene is there?
3. Is there a way of donating to the nexus without using paypal? I love this place but do not love paypal.
