Jorkest's D-Limonene Bufotenine Extraction TEK

The D-limonene is used primarily as an additional cleaning step I gather. Is there any suggestions for a suitable substitute for the D-limonene? Looking for something more readily available.... IPA? Naphtha? Another wash with cold acetone?

You can use a mix of mek:heptane but it's not as good. Even the limonene boil isn't perfect.
 
Cannot seem to find heptane or MEK at all. Have access to IPA, Xylene, Acetone, Methyl Alcohol, Naphtha, Mineral Spirits and Ethanol. Anything else seems to be elusive to this Canuck without a hefty pricetag involved ($50 for 1 quart of D-limonene by mail :eek: )
 
you can use boiling xylene to clean it...it stinks really bad...and is very flammable..so be super careful...then after the xylene boil...and you collect the precips...dissolve the bufotenine in acetone to break apart the crystals so that any residual xylene can escape and evaporate
 
Thanks Jorkest I'll give the Xylene a go, is it possible just to heat it without actually boiling as with the D-limonene? Would be nice to use a nice smelling solvent, but funds are depleted too easily.
 
Well I followed this tek and the pure-ish bufo is currently dropping out of my limonene. This tek is a fucking ordeal lol!

I ended up doing one more FASA purification because what I had was SO gooey I didn't know if I'd even be able to get it off the razor blade! The second time around I also dissolved the FASA crystals in dH2O, the crystals dried VERY hard. Then after freebasing and evaping the acetone, there was a CLEAR distinction between areas with the bufo and the areas with mainly the disgusting tar-oil, but I mixed them both up, figuring that there was still good bufo in the tar that I could pull out with the limo. Perhaps next time I will just do repeat dissolving in acetone to physically separate the bufo and trash!!!

That is, if there ever IS a next time heh! Perhaps if I obtain a soxhlet and DCM, less cleanup will be necessary during the last step, cause otherwise I can't see myself being motivated enough to go through the whole shebang for a throw of the dice (based on the initial potency of the seeds).

Two questions:

1) What's y'alls preferred smoking method? Leaf bed? Vaporizer?

2) Can boiling Toluene replace Xylene? I didn't get my limo to full boil because I was afraid of damaging the pan my container w/ limo was in. Xylene boils much quicker (136C), but Toluene boils even sooner at 110C!
 
1) You want to find something you can heat it in and store in its vapourised state for about 20-30 seconds before you inhale. Some recommend making using a test tube with 2 glass pipes in a stopper, 1 connected to a tube for inhaling. You heat the bottom of the test tube with a candle on a stand, blow out the candle, wait then inhale. I haven't made one of these bad boys yet. I've just been using my bong and covering the holes until it's cool enough to inhale.

2) Water boils at 100C. That's no the point here. The idea is that the bufotenine reaches its melting point and then becomes soluble in the solvent. Xylene is good because it boils a little higher than the bufo melts. You only have to bring limonene to a light simmer so boiling with limonene isn't necassary. I think Xylene is the way to go for bufotenine though.
 
I think it would, but I personally wouldn't use it because It can degrade the product if the ph is shot too high for too long.

Sodium carbonate seems to work fine for me.
 
Unless you really, really know what you're doing, I'd keep anything ending in "hydroxide" away from bufotenine. It won't kill you, but it may kill the bufotenine at too high a pH for too long.
 
fo show, SWIM actually got sodium carbonate anyways just in case. Got Argentina strain of vilca from FV and will let ya'll know the results in ~ three weeks time.
 
I wonder, if anyone around here is still using this tek. Tried it with some 20g powdered Cebil seeds. And I'm only getting ~100mg after step 3. I used citric acid for salting, can this be the problem here?

did you vape any yet? In other extractions i had less yeild with citric acid...
