Recently done some harmala extraction from caapi and spice from MHRB.
This is the harmalas following a manske. Things didn't go to plan, and the yield is pretty poor. Got a bit muddled looking at a couple of tecs.
Spice extraction went well and got some lovely white xtals. Second pull in fridge and third being swirled.

3rd pull. I have the 4th pull in the cupboard, but probably won't bother freezing that as clearly not much going to be there. Will just keep the solvent and reuse in next batch.

I had all of the 4 cooks combined and had reduced the volume. I was cooling the liquid in the sink, and I got some tap water in the mix. The solution became cloudy, like a very fine ppt, and I then added too much salt soln so it was too dilute (I think). Got no crystals growing, so I rebased and did it again.
I was looking at a rue extraction tec, as well as the caapi tec, and think I got a bit muddled.

Have you ever checked the pH of your tap water? It could be quite alkaline. What most likely happened is that some salts had formed in your solution after adding tap water into your acidic harmala solution. Did you add NaCl in the form of saturated solution?

I was wondering if the chlorine in the tap water may have also been an issue. I did add saturated soln

MHRB extraction:

Separated heptane.

Base and a (quadruple) shot.
Acid tea after salt solution added. I used cheap table salt containing sodium hexacyanoferrate. (Oh my god!)
Acid tea reservoir.
This pull is now in the freezer. Second pull just chilling. Pics to follow.
