Like the Severance Elevator

OK, I've been a diligent as I could be in searching the forums and not really come up with an answer.

So far in my experiences with DMT I have described as 'Clicking Over' with the feeling of the brain going from 'WTF' to 'OK then Lets Go' and it can feel like an elevator scene from the series Severance.
Is there a set of written stages that can occur after taking a hit? I've occasionally read the term 'Waiting Room' and I'm wondering if this is where I am.

When the brain says 'OK then Lets Go' I'm in that beautiful place with all the peace and all the gratitude, so far these places have all been on approx 5mg hits, so what I'm wanting is to get to this location and be able to level off and stay a while longer, I'm guessing I need to keep hitting the pipe more on low doses or introduce some subtle MAOI. I've read up on the Harmalas and if I'm honest I don't like the side effect descriptions / possible harms.

Any advice?

Harmalas' principle concern is really only if you are, or recently have been, taking incompatible medication. Or maybe if you're pregnant. What sources can you cite which in particular underlie your concerns?
 
I was reading a *paper looking at the use of harmalas around the world and it seemed like it was broadly bad for the body. I guess all drugs have some form of side effects. *I enjoy science but reading scientific papers and studies isn't really my thing, my brains turn to mush.

I came at this from the angle of, my Cannabis use is a benefit to me, removes my Neuropathic pain completely and is a benefit to my sleep, wellbeing and shows a big improvement in my mental state, it feels like I'm getting a top-up of something that balances my mind.
DMT, being endogenous, seems like it's meant to be here so our bodies have processes in place to create or destroy the molecule, this makes me feel like I'm not going to cause myself harm.
So Ideally I want to put things in my body that I know don't harm me or will benefit me.

Maybe i just need to experiment with Rue seeds and get over myself!

The main harmalas are endogenous as well. However that says very little of how the body will handle supra-physiological doses, e.g. insulin is also endogenous and can easily kill you. In the case of harmalas, they are quite safe and even healthy at the usual dosages, the doses that are toxic would have you vomiting nonstop.

I think you'd have a much more enjoyable experience with purified harmalas. Using the oral route of administration, 100mg of harmine and 50mg of tetrahydroharmine will undoubtedly extent your trip.

I've never looked very in-depth about it, but I've always heard reversible MAOIs can actually be healthy. At least in the area of mental health. I'm not exactly a frequent user myself, but I've never had the impression that they're bad for you.

That'd be the best method for some self-sufficiency and knowledge. An alternative way would be to purchase it on the clearnet since harmalas are legal in most Western countries.

Taking it 30-45 minutes before vaping would be about right for making sure your MAO is already inhibited. Maybe sooner if you just mix the harmalas with a shot glass of water or orange juice and drink it, though that will taste pretty bad.
 
Definitely best to extract your own from Syrian rue - who, after all, wouldn't want concentrated incense for religious purposes? (And to repeal the regressive Psychoactive Substances Act…)
@TransistorBass That's true, looking for the words "Not for human consumption" may serve you well in your search.

But extraction is also a worthwhile skill to have, so either option is good.

Yeah, that video provides some nice explanations and guidance. When it comes to the seeds in their raw form, they contain about 50/50 harmine/harmaline. Everyone has individual tastes, but a lot of people dislike harmaline, including myself. You'll have to experiment and see what works for you. Just make sure you pay attention to the contraindications of harmalas.
