Long term use of DMT

Migrated topic.

This an important question I wanted to ask for a long time. And I would appreciate good answers from all the experienced voyagers in this forum

I have read that generally people that use DMT and other tryptamines do not use them for a long time. generally after 1 or 2 years they stop taking it. I do not know if that's true, but my question is a 'WHY' type of question: Why do you continue use spice, or, if not, why have you stopped?

On a related topic (or perhaps not) what has led experienced travelers to DMT and prolonged use? Is it a pure hedonistic experience or more than that? (note that hedonistic experiences can be spiritual also)

Finally, has anyone found what they were looking for with the use of spice? If so, why do you continue to use it?

Sorry, I got carried away and ended up asking a lot of questions. Please do indulge a beginner on the Path, with much too many questions on his head.

Thanks

Not exactly your questions but check out the two links on this section of the FAQ, it has some discussion on long term use. Also this thread has some discussion on smoking frequency

In SWIM's experience, it has been some years since first time, and it has been a loooong time since last time. He has big respect for this substance, nearly aversion. He brought it to some very remote places across the world, where it could have been very good to launch, but he didnt... Its not at all that he feels its bad, or that there would be anything negative if he did.. He never had a bad experience! Its hard to explain, some people here might understand him. One thing its true, its definitely not addictive!

This doesnt mean he will always keep like this far away, it might come (even sometime soon) that SWIM experiments a bit more frequently again.. It all depends on so many factors, and there are different phases, also.

As for 'finding what one looks for', well, there is no object or final destination that SWIM looks for.. Its a never ending dynamic mystery! Each time is so damn amazing and surprising! He doesnt think there is an end to it, it will always be a mystery and he will always be amazed by it.

Sorry for being so bland and general about it, its actually a nice subject the 'why' of the whole use and how it works with frequency, and theres so much to talk its hard to even know where to start.. But check those links I gave and maybe someone else will post more here and feel free to ask more whatever comes in your head :)

I generally keep using a substance until it "stops working".

With spice I don't use it often. Mainly because of the nature through which I acquire it, I am very aware that a habit can form and that I'd be using it to pass the time rather than for purely entheogenic reasons. I certainly haven't explored it as deeply as I'd like to, but I won't use it again until I've made some progress in the "real" world. If the spice answers a question I generally won't go in again until something in me has change

I don't use many substances these days, but there are substances they I don't use anymore that I use to use often. MDMA for example, granted is a whole other school of fish, but the first few times I used it I had several epiphanies. As soon as these break throughs stop happening, I realise that I have done all I can with a substance.

With mushrooms I had some serious personal discovery, then the last few times I used them I didn't really know why and just had difficult experiences, the last of which was about 2 years ago. I haven't made a final decision never to use them again really. I just haven't felt the need recently.

It's a hard question to answer really.

In short, I feel no habitual connection to tryptamines even though it's been about ten years since I first started using them so they are not calling to me constantly. But I have a need to keep exploring because even through these ten years I still feel like a complete beginner. I will probably commit to them hardcore for at least a short while once I am married and have kids or something like that. Sure that may sound irresponsible to some, but I think every major life change should be supplemented with a tryptamine checkup :)

I don't have much add to this :) This is exactly what I've answered :) Sometimes you want to trip and sometimes you don't. I've been away from psychedelics for years just because. Not because I was avoiding them but just because I had no urge to use them.

It's more like sometimes I feel like I have to use them because there are answers I need. Sometimes I don't really want to trip but I feel I need to.
It's like going to work. You maybe don't really feel like it but you know you just need it to survive :)

I have had a full bowl in a pipe, sealed for several months now. I do not know honestly why I have not gone back. I enjoy the experience, yet I simply do not have the urge, although I am writing a book now which takes up much of my time. Funny enough I had a dream, which is where the idea for this book came from. If dreaming is DMT based, then maybe I should go back :p

DMT makes you think, not sure how that could harm you but meh.

On a completely different note, does anyone know of any recorded instances where spice, freebase, oil, or otherwise has been known to have healing properties for damaged cells? I ask only because I recently saw a DVD about a guy in Canada and Rick Simpson that says pot can cure cancer. THC being a very mild hallucinogen somehow slows the cell growth, maybe a powerful one shot into a cancerous cell could out right fubar it into a new dimension of holy shit balls?

Has anyone heard of anyone trying this shit or am I the first to put the 2 together? copyright pls thx? lol

Endlessness is spot-on.

The dreamer got what he needed out of DMT. He travelled through hyperspace 50+ times over a few months, then pretty much stopped. He will return to it if he needs it again. From now on, he will only smoke when he introduces close friends to it- he goes first and they watch, and once they see he's fine then they feel positive about their turn. He will smoke it with his new girlfriend soon, but after that not for a long time :)

a friend of mine told me that it's been some months since his last excursion as well. Therefore, I think we can conclude from this thread that no one on this site actually smokes DMT anymore... ;)

To answer your first question i intend to smoke spice for many years to come, as its a very powerful and sacred entheogen for me. Each time i journey with spice i find small little fragments of the knowledge i am seeking for in this life time, yes i have found what i am looking for with spice and i will continue to journey with spice until i have found all the fragments of knowledge that i am looking for. No worries Picatris ask away......😉

Much Peace and Happiness

I think spice can heal by activating DNA..prob even more so when caapi in combined..melatonin as well..which is close to spice...and, big coincidence..cannabis releases mass ammounts of endogenous melatonin in the body..go figure. Too much cannabis though and one may become depleted of melatonin so keep that in mind.

..about Rick Simpson..he did heal many people in canada here with his cannabis oil, I find it amazing how he was able to get rid of melanoma by simply applying it to the skin(obviousily our government wants us to die of cancer)...he grew it on his farm and told the government what he was doing..they did not bother him for a while and then just arrested him one day. Theydid not allow the people he healed to testify on his behlaf in court..they made him out to be a big time drug dealer..even though he never ever sold any medicine..he gave it away..god this man is a hero..and I think he is sitting in jail.

Anyone who doesn't know watch RUN FROM THE CURE.

I love how many of us come to this conclusion somehow.
It does indeed feel like psychedelics illuminate the DNA
whatever that means

Haha yes sounds a bit like that.
But when I said I've been away from psychedelics for years I meant once for years. It's been now 3-4 weeks since I last smoked DMT and then it had been around 3 months.
But I just made me some more so I'll be traveling soon again :)

DMT is akin to a book.

You read it many times until you understand it.

Then you put it down for awhile and apply what you've learned from it to your life.

Every once in awhile, picking it back up and giving it another read reveals nuances that you didn't catch before.

DMT is all about learning; these are consciousness expanding compounds.

However, if you don't have any consciousness to expand in the first place, then you will just be seeking a "high" which you will never get, because DMT humbles you beyond humility; it will flat out scare the shit out of you if your intentions are impure.

Learn what you can from DMT. Treat it with respect.

I went from a period of experimenting with it, literally, a few times a week, to now only revisiting it every few months, or whenever I feel my ego needs to be dissolved.

I have been smoking it for the better part of two years now, going on three.

I do not recommend smoking it recreationally; you're asking for trouble if that is the case.

Unfortunately, I feel most people approach DMT recreationally and they get their asses handed to them after awhile.

DMT is a sacrament. Treat it as such.

Keep in mind who holds the patent on cannabinoids. Yup, the US gvmt.

aaaaah, nothing warms my cockles like US patents on biology and genetics. you gotta love it.

The book analogy is excellent . The insights I get from a few experiences seem to hold me for a long while. I think it is an important part of the process. To experience then ponder the insights thats seems to work for me. Sometimes its all about the timing of when to do it. I feel like an animal sometimes in the forest searching for just the right spot, testing the position, the view, the sounds the vibe of a spot. The vibe of a moment.....
spice is so powerful, its been said many times before its self regulating . someone mentioned an aversion to it. I can relate to that in a big way. sometimes I plan to do it then it just doesn't feel right and I abandon the idea.

For me its part of my own personal journey and healing from alot of years of major stress.I took care of my sick father all the way to the end of his life at the age of 91. Intense doesn't even begin to describe it. Spice has been nothing but beneficial to my depression allowing and helping me to slowly wean myself off anti-depressent meds.
I am greatful and thankful every day for the insights and incredable possibilites that this substance brings to me.
my last experience had a profound moment where my spirit was expanding outward like a sun. Expanding outward toward all the people in my life and around me who are struggling in they're lives. Perhaps this expansion of consciouness is a way to help people to see the possibilites. To actually do something for the greater good of humanity. This is just a small part of what this stuff has begun to do for me. I am changed for the better because of it.

If I could I would take DMT every day (mimosa brew, not smoked). It feels like a health supplement to me, I feel incredibly physically and mentally fit while it's in my system.
