Maximising twig surface area.

How do you guys maximise surface area when blending your twigs/bark?

I read somewhere about freezing the twigs before blending them to make them more brittle. Can anyone confirm this?

freezing them would work. However, if you are using a blender, I would suggest covering twigs in a layer of water, freeze them over night and thaw it out in a heat bath in the morning before blending. This way the twigs will become more brittle from water intrusion (also I would highly suggest using water along with twigs in blender). Freeze and thaw followed by blending is a good way to soften up the twiggies
