Could it be possible that the final product is contaminated with CAOH? I read about the water solubility of CAOH and its only 1 grams per 100ml. Is it possible that this 3 grams (based on 300ml water) could migrate to the limonene layer and then to the vinegar?
Also my seperatory funnel was bought second hand so I don't know for sure what kind of substances have been in there. The glass looked clean but there was a kind of sweet odor (and I read that poisonous substances often smell sweet for instance cyankali) in it. I read on internet that you should wash it with acetone and after that with water to clean out potential leftovers. I did this 2 times. The odor was gone after that and the glass looked totally clear. Could there potentially dangerous contaminations in my acetate? I want to try the acetate this weekend at low dose but don't want to risk my life for it. I know it is hard to tell but maybe someone with chemistry knowledge can confirm if my cleaning method was sufficient to eliminate dangerous substance leftovers.
