Mimosa hostilis plants

Migrated topic.

Fable

Rising Star
Here are some pics of my MH plants. They are 2-3 yrs old ans each in a 25l pot. They don't seem to like full sun especially during summer and do much better in a semi shady position. They respond well to a light fert and some seasol. I harvested some leaves dried them quickly and smoked them in my pipe, there were definite shifts in the local reality bubble but nothing spectacular. I did end up with a mild headache and the munchies. The feeling lasted for 30 minutes or more, I think it might have been 5MEO. You can see some of my cacti collection in the background, namely the pachanoi and bridgesii. [quote:3fc2f3a3ec="Garulfo"]Nice garden. Missing Salvias ;) Did you grow the MH from seeds ?[/quote:3fc2f3a3ec] Unfortunately I didnt grow these from seed myself. They were about 9 inches tall when i got them. I believe that to germinate the seeds an innoculant is needed for the soil, like a symbiotic relationship or something. I could be wrong though. I am hoping that the plants will eventually flower and set seed.

Off the top of my head I cant remember who supplied plants of curiosity and interest but it is very easy to find out if you live in the UK. Look at the Royal Horticultural Society Plant Finder. It gives you everything you need to know and is really easy to use. Also you get the plants at the gardeners price level rather than the inflated hippy tat prices. Im sure there will be an equivalent resource in Holland.

I have read that it takes 3 years before you can harvest any root i was wondering how much raw material you would get off a plant after 3 years and as mentalextention asked will it kill the plant if you harvest it. As for how to get them to sprout from seeds, the seed shells are relay hard so you need to nick the shell to get them to germinate. A nail clipper used on the larger end of the seed works well. Then you boil some water and let it cool for like 2 min or something and then soak the seeds for 30min. The ones that swell up are the ones that will work but you can resoak the ones that dont. Then just wrap them in a wet paper towel and put them in a plastic bag so it does not dry out. With in a few days they should start sprouting then they just need to be planted.
