The main difference will be how well it keeps without proper storage.. The powder can *conceivably* go bad faster, but I havent noticed any difference in taste or yield, and my bark is usually in our van (read "improperly" stored).
Another difference is that (with my source at least) the powder the powder can be more "concentrated", as the fibers that wont powder can be sifted out, leading to a greater potency.
But I like having a few pieces of rootbark around, it just looks nice!

I use q21q21's TEK. It was the first one I used and I haven't found a need to use any other method. It's exceedingly (elegantly might be a better word) simple, straightforward, effective - and if use d-limonene it is 100% food safe.

the q21 tek is a HUGE waste. I never get the ammount of solvent back that I put in..so there is loss. Limo is $$. The mimosa/vinegar/lime mix always seems to soak up some of the solvent and I cant get it back. That means that some DMT is bound up in there and some limo is lost.
I like the vinegar salt part though. So now for me it is A/B and then limo pull..then the normal vinegar salt like in the q21 tek..but I did that tek for a year and I wont do it again. Just too much limo loss. You should be able to always get all your solvent back so you can salt it and reuse it next time. With q21 tek I always just came up with less.

I was losing naptha at an alarming rate when I first started using q21q21 tek. Then I figured out that I was making it too wet. If you have an almost crumbly consistency you get about 90% of the naptha back. I don't know if that's the case with limo though.
I like q2121. I consistently get a yield of around 1.5%. The last time I did a q21, the yield from 100g of bark was 1650mg. And I will probably do a couple more pulls and get another 100mg. That's pretty good I think.

Jaime, I have actually noticed the solvent loss you speak of, however I actually have only done the naphtha TEK and with naphtha being around 15$ a gallon here I haven't worried too much about solvent loss... But as Niles mentioned, getting the basified bark to a crumbly consistency really reduces the loss...
However, I see the OP is located in California where there isn't any naphtha to be had. I dunno if bestine works in q21q21's...

yeah I got it drier as well and got more limo back but even 10% of my limo being lost makes it not worth it for me because limo is so $$ and I have to order it online and wait for it to come and pay for shipping etc..if I could go buy limo at the store here it would not be such a huge deal.

I find that if I start off like an A/B but evap the acidified mimosa tea in my dehydrator down to a powder, scrape it up and base with lime and water and then pull with limo like the q21 tek I loose much less solvent because I have much less material to work with that I am pulling from...does take some more time though. I could just base the tea but I am too lazy to track down lye.

To answer your question, you should get powdered bark for the tek you have in mind.

I feel you on that, limonene is crazy expensive... that is the primary barrier between me and 100% food safe extraction....
I use q21 with limo. Lately however I've been basing the acetate goo with washing soda afterwards. A whole lot smoother and more betterer after that ime. Also I've begun salting with FASW rather than white vinegar...so yeah, I've been experimenting with the q21 amor fati teks.
I'd much rather loose a small bit of limo than use a petroleum product to extract dmt. By the fourth limo pull, I'm happy that I got the extreme majority of spice out of the plant, and am really only loosing the limo. But if I am leaving behind some spice I'll just have to consider that an offering, a sacrifice made in humble awe, for the spice I love and the planet I love.
My skills, knowledge and experience are all very limited, so I answer this question with all humbleness, but to me, this feel right.

I have definitely noticed the contradictions of using the lightest fraction of the death-goo to extract the Spice, it is a strange mixing of the necromancy that defines our civilization and the post-human nature of DMT.

I have never done DMT although I will very soon

However I have done my research for a couple of months and it seems like using whole ingredients and processing them yourself will result in a stronger/safer trip, which makes sense if you believe in the spirituality of it. Processing an ingredient, just like with cooking or alchemy for example, is a ritual in itself that allows your energy to be infused with the ingredients and “connect” with them. But again that’s only if you believe in that stuff. It is also good to talk to the soul of the plant about your purpose and be very respectful throughout the whole process.
