mixing lye with 250ml and bark with 500ml nomans tek

hello, it’s late and ilmy buddy wanted to get his first extraction started. can he mix the lye and the bark separate cap. off coarse slowly mix lye small amounts at a time till dissolved. 50 g of lye to say 250-400ml then mix 50g bark with 500-350ml of water let sit over night and combine the two and continue with nomans tek.
thank you, i tried searching didn’t find anything similar.
would a silicone funnel work ?

As much as I'd love to give you a confident answer, I'm afraid my extraction knowledge is a bit rusty and I prefer leaving the answer to someone that is more knowledgeable than me in this domain. A lot of people fall in this category, so just be a bit patient and you'll get an answer.

There is no need for this, you could but there’s no benefit other then getting “started”. It does not matter if you combine it before or after, other than that you have to clean one more container.

understood thank you i will just start in the am with one mixing bottle i’m using a thick wine bottle(tequila actually in the shape of a wine bottle) i believe that should withstand the solvents

@MindfulMyco7 I just wanted to point you to the Extraction Safety Guidelines in our wiki. If you haven't, I'd strongly recommend reading carefully through it. You can never make a mistake being too careful, especially when working with strong bases and flammable substances.

Also, keep in mind what the cap of that bottle is made of and whether it has high enough of a corrosive resistance to lye. If you have any doubts, I'd recommend getting a proper borosilicate glass container with a cap made of a suitable material that doesn't leech anything in your basic solution.

yea my buddy got 4 K brand 1000mL screw cap flask style. and i bought a ptfe sheet for safety measures for him. he has A glass stirring rod, pipette and actually a electric pipette too. then the 10-50-100-250-500-1000mL low form beaker set. 10 5”x7” 3.3 glass containers with the snap top lids, 3 small bowl style pyrex with lids and a mini freezer 1.2 cubic feet. not bragging but he’s all in. going to go 50g runs with STB teks and cybs hybrid tek. going to see what he likes with the 509g bark he has. snd expirement and go from there find what he likes and then move to 100g extracts. or just do 4x50g extracts with the 4 1000mL glass round media storage boro glass bottles
