What am I looking for in the MSDS sheet as far as which solvents are ok?

What do you think, as a first guess, you should be looking for?
Attach a copy of the MSDS you're looking at if you like.
You will need to look into the properties of each component of mixed solvents. Other than naphtha and similar mixed aliphatic hydrocarbons, it's best to stick to single component solvents. I don't think you're planning to run any chromatography at the moment.

Specifically you want to look for `COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS` - the section number will vary depending on manufacturer.
Under the Composition/Information on Ingredients section you will see which chemicals are included and at what percentage of the overall formula.
E.G. VM&P Naphtha lists `Light aliphatic solvent naphtha (petroleum)` at `95.0-100.0%`
You want to make sure that the SDS doesn't list any other undesirable solvents or chemicals.
E.G. VM&P Painter's Solvent (The "replacement" for naphtha in states that has it outlawed) lists `Acetone` at `60.0-95.0%`, `Methyl Acetate` at `5.0-25.0%`, and `Hydrotreated light distillate` at `2.0-5.0%`
This is exactly what you wouldn't want to see in the solvent you choose. (although I imagine someone who knew what they were doing and had a specific use for this composition might look for just this!)
Good hunting, and make sure to be precise about which SDS you are looking at - manufacturers often have multiple lines of products under very similar names and that might be misleading
And of course as always, don't always trust what you read, test it for yourself by doing an evap test.
