I was going to put a poll on this thread, but I think it would be naive of me to quantify peoples reasoning as this is a very unique thing from person to person.
Now we all know that different substances have different effects, also the same substance can serve a very different purpose if administered in a different way. Obviously these different circumstances have their own way of connecting with us and in turn have a large impact on how and what we learn from them.
I used to think that people who used a variety of psychedelics were doing so, merely because they could. I started off using mushrooms because they came to me first and opened me up more than any substance I had known before and I worked with them for 3-4 years before I even thought to try anything else. The truth being that I felt I'd mis-used them and kept arriving at the same conclusions every session. At the end of this period I flirted with LSD once or twice, mdma , had one amazing iboga session that was all that was needed, then tried salvia and a few 2C's before arriving to mescaline and DMT.
The latter two are all I use these days, most of the others gave me some amazing experiences, but nothing seems to be as precise for my purpose. DMT gives me amazing insight from within (should probably include harmalas too) which has actually made me go through several life changes that HOPEFULLY have stopped me being a 25 year old who is trapped in the mind of an unambitious teenager. Born to be seventeen my dad always said
Mescaline/Cacti do the exact same thing, but to the external world and thanks to these 2 substances I will never take myself or the world around me for granted.
...and I'm using them less and less... long lasting blissful understanding
I suppose even if you just use one substance it would be intersting to hear about your reasoning and said benefits of, but I'm very interested to hear peoples particular reasons for taking different substances.
So... you first
