I am stunned!!! What I would give for one of your pipes! Some of those beat out most of the top notch glass work at the head shop in my <nearest nondescript generic large city>! Some look familiar....... But that may just be since I haven't been to the shop for a while.

Not only is glass a beautiful and interesting medium, it is also a great business choice for making smoking devices. People get stoned, clumsy, accidentally break it and have to buy more. Win win!

Thanks a lot! 😁

I really enjoy working with glass, and there's no end to the learning. There's so so much I still want to do. And you'd think it would be a good way to make a living but the truth is I usually struggle like hell to make ends meet. Right now I've got about negative 100 in my account, 5 maxed out credit cards, and still haven't paid my shop rent.

But I've been here many times before and always squeak through. I've already got a bunch of finished stuff ready to sell ASAP, so at least there's that. It's got it's ups and downs just like most things I suppose.

That sucks man! I'd buy some from you! Have you considered amazon? How about marketing to shops? The one I went to in the city would definitely stock your stuff, but they look stocked up already. They do like having a variety of blowers though.

No worries, I've got a solid plan to improve the situation. It's just going to take some time, and a lot of work. Which I'm totally up for, I'm just particularly frustrated right now because a broken down vehicle has been jacking everything up for the last few weeks, and eating up all my time.

I guess I'm just saying, don't get the idea I'm livin' the baller rockstar lifestyle off this stuff or anything. :d But I'll work however hard I need to and handle whatever challenges come along in order to be able to keep doing this. In general I feel very fortunate to make a living off my glass. This has just been a difficult year so far, lots of wrenches in the gears. And these last few weeks have been particularly rough.

I'm really grateful for this community, I think it's been very helpful to my state of mind recently. During hard times I'd usually be wanting to "de-stress" with MJ, and you've all given me something else to put my attention into when I'm not working. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with weed of course! 😁

But for me, at this point in my life, it does more harm than good. And I've definitely learned a lot more cool and interesting stuff here than I would have playing video games and toobing out (which is exactly what I'd be doing instead of posting here, if I were stoned.) So thanks everyone! I'mma go back to work now!

That's all really beautiful stuff... Some of those pipes are labyrinthine. I think my favorites are the cycloctopus and the clinging frog skeleton... Great character.

Psyched about our barter!

the symbol of on the samurai's chest (tattoo) is very similar to the huichol symbol for peyote....

btw nice glass

Damn what is happening at the nexus, so much awesome art, an influx of creativity.. Crazyhorse I love your every stuff, the drawings, tattoos, 3d scenes, glasswork.. Thank you so much for sharing all of that.

Crazy glass work. Very unique indeed. You should make custom bongs which can either fit the GVG top, or apply the same principal to make your own GVG style spice bong. There's no shortage of spice junkies here in residence to fill up your book with pre-orders.

We do seem to be cultivating a fine little school of unique artists as of late. If not for the discovery of this place (and the molecule which inspired it), I would not be making art or have become aware it was something I was capable of.

Dawwwww... Thanks guys!

I haven't seen a GVG close-up and personal, but saw a pic around here somewhere of the end piece from one stuck into a regular glass-on-glass bong fitting. Couldn't really tell how well it fit but it looked pretty compatable.

Here's my take on a glass version of the "machine", made this immediately after my first (and so far only) extraction. 😉 No ceramic disk but it probably works very similar to a GVG.

Function>Form on this one. I turn it upside down to use it. The bowl comes out and gets loaded from what would usually be the bottom end of the fitting, spice sits on a screen to keep it from falling through the steel wool. Heat from below and poof!

very awesome stuff here man! I know you say things are rough now but its still good to see an artist making a living with their art. That glass is beautiful I would love to learn how to do that one day. I NEED that octopus bowl man!

Very impressed with your personal spice hardware. Do you use a standard lighter or a torch? What size dose would you say you are capable of vaporizing in one hit?

Thanks! Things are already looking up again, finally fixed the car and did enough glass sales today to get myself back out of the hole, and even get some food! 😁

Lampwork is something I think just about anyone can learn if they have the patience. But the learning curve is ridiculous compared to anything else I've tried. Makes learning 3D modeling/animation seem so easy by comparison. 4-6 months of full-time practice just to get the basic skills required to make a decent one hitter. It's nuts. :surprised I'm 6 years in and still have so much to learn just in my one narrow specialty alone it's ridiculous. But that's what I love about it, when I quit feeling like there's more to learn about something I get bored with it really quick.

Regular lighter, just held a few inches below the bowl. I don't have a scale that measures accurately under a gram so I've got no idea about dose sizes. I haven't fired that thing up in quite awhile, used an 18" bong for my last few attempts and it worked so much better for me I may never go back. But it's probably more to do with technique than hardware.

Crazyhorse...awesome work man. I used to be a hardcore glass afficionado (can't justify shelling out the cash so much any more 😉 ) and some of your pieces bring back the old itch.

Fwiw, I'm pretty sure the GVG uses (and the ceramic top piece fits into) a 14/20 ground glasss joint. It looks like it would be pretty easy for you to make something similar to your custom piece above that could accommodate that top piece.

Hell, even in the piece you have (or one similar to it), if you were able to turn the bottom of the inside of that joint receiver into a bowl or significant inward taper, you could stuff it with a volcano liquid pad and drop the ceramic fitting on top of it and voila! Or something like that...in my non-professional opinion :p

Anyway, just wanted to let you know how much I've enjoyed seeing your art...and your glass is really great. Keep up the good work

So after the video game company folded I started my own company doing web design and a little freelance illustration work. Here's a pair of techno album covers and one of the rave flyers I did for a music promoter in Madison in the early 2000's. I also got into some sculpting, costume work and SPFX type stuff for a few years, but wasn't making much money and didn't stick with it. I'll see what else I can dig up from this time period tomorrow, then get into my main obsession for the last 6 years or so - glassblowing.

Amazing artwork Crazyhorse! The first rave I ever went to in my life was in Madison Back in 1992. A childhood friend of mine still djs out there, he goes by Adeptus. The raves back then were all hardcore techno/acid house parties...stuff like dj hyperactive.

This is a video mix I made. I hope you guys get some enjoyment out of it.
