Okay so I'd thought I'd kick things off with my first experience with DMT.
A few months ago, I had acquired the substance after researching for months about it. It was a very big step for me to take for I had never had a psychedelic experience prior to this. Unless one would call marijuana a psychedelic, I personally don't feel it is, but taken in a nature setting you feel connected to the earth in a way.
I loaded up "the machine" I had made with approximately 10-15mg. I didn't have a scale at the time so I just winged it, which is not the best thing to do. I then hopped in the truck and drove a fair distance into the woods, pulled off onto a thick back road. Parked, took a few deep breaths, and put the vaporizer up to my mouth with the lighter below.
Breathing in the vapour was almost like breathing in heavier air. A lot of people say DMT tastes and smells terrible, but I found it to be quite nice. Holding in the vapour, I could hear my heart pounding very loudly. After 10 seconds or so, I exhaled. Repeated a second time. This is where things started to happen.
Everything started waving, pulsating. The spruce trees turned from green to purple to blue then back to green. The birch trees warped together to form faces, like those of Hawaiian masks. The road turned bright white, covered with what seemed like hundreds of tiny spinning water lilly flowers. All of this was accompanied by an immense body stone feeling, was hard to move. This is when I closed my eyes. The first thing I saw was a red and yellow kaleidoscopic background, in front of it was a 2D beetle with large claws. The beetle then changed into a hexagon shaped head with solid black eyes and tall vertical straw hair. These visions looked familiar, like I'd seen them before. After this the visuals were gone and I opened my eyes to everything being back to "normal" after a total of 3-4 minutes. I was left with tears, because what I had seen was so beautiful and nothing like anything I had ever experienced.
It was much different than LSD which I tried about a month later. One thing with LSD is that you have time to process what's happening. I found I learned more about myself and the universe on LSD, but was left with more unanswered questions on DMT. Comparing the two is like apples and oranges; that's a topic for another day.
I'm still not sure to this day what my two visuals meant. I also still have a lot of anxiety before trips, anyone have advice? Maybe it's there to remind me that this trip is meaningful and to respect it. Anyway.
